I wouldn't have retreated like that around the Donbas.

By T-13, and with the new RR Building rules, it is very tough to get fuel down there as the Germans. How far is he from his railhead?

If it's more than 20-ish hexes, I would have stayed.

The problem doing that is that he should get infantry to Rostov before Mud season, so that city is probably gone as well. That really helps the Germans.

Extreemly close. My oponent use 2 FBD in one rail line. Around the 9th turn the rail line was close to Dneptnopetrovsk.

Miracle aroud Moscow

Post by Callistrid »

T14 Moscow

The german had stop flanking Moscow, and his pz spearhead drive north. Well.. I don't understand his moves, because the german will give me enough time to dig in, and leningrad is so far.
I belive he did a great mistake.

On the south-Moscow front, the german 2nd and 1st Pz Army spearhead had a good way to capture Tula, with 14 arm factory.
10 soviet div had been encircled around Bryansk, with no chance to break the german lines.

Turn 16

Post by Callistrid »

T16 Leningrad

The german try to cut the Leningrad railways, but several soviet divisions try to stop them.
12-14 mot/pz divisions operate in the area, but the difficult terrarian slow them.
I belive my opponent will continue the attack on mud/winter.

T16 Moscow

The battle for Moscow continues, with soviet succes. On the eastern area a minor soviet counterattack encircle 2 german div, but the circle line is weak, so my opponent can break the lines.

On south moscow front the german spearhead try to take Tula, what is an empty city. Vyazma will fall next turn, but Moscow seems to be defended.

4 german mot/pz div try to take Rostov what is well defended, and empty.
On the Crimean peninsula the 51st army hold his lines.

T16 Casulties

close to 3 million, what is average and accepteble.
Since I hold Moscow, Leningrad, plus my industry looses are relative light (4 ARMA, 5 veichile, and 30-40 heavy), I think I've done a good job.

Turn 17, the end of Barbarossa

Post by Callistrid »

T17 Overwiev

On the Leningrad front the german try to cut the city. Maybe the german has a chance on the winter turn, but I belive my opponent concentrate too much unit in (12-14 mot/pz, 6+ inf div) the bulge, and in the west part of the Leningrad front (17 + div). However, I start evacuating the Leningrad industries for safety's sake.

On south, after 30+ recon search, I can't found any fortification position, only the frontline german div hold the line. Since his defense seems to be weak, I've start infiltate with the russians, move closer to my lost cities. On the Orel-Rostov line around 40 german div hold the line.
Two ger div had been encircled, but the german has a chance to break the encirclement.

On Moscow, both side has stroong fortified line, so all quiet.

I've sent back 15 cav div to refit, and merge to cav corps. They will be my spearhead on the blizzard attack.

T17 Leningrad

Dangerous situation. The german has a chance to encircle Leningrad on the first three winter turn, but his supply line are weak, and too many soviet div stand against the AGN, with high fortification value. So I can hit them hard on the blizzard turns.

Acceptable casulties. Only the lost of 19 cav div hurt me.

T17 Industrial statistic

Up, the first turn statistic, down the T17
I've lost 7 armament, 4 veichile, and 44 heavy industry. My heavy industry loose seems to be high, around 20 %.

Wow your doing very good Callistrid and your in a very good position to put a real hurt on him in blizzard unless he starts running during last turn of snow.

He got next to nothing in armament points and you will not have a manpower issue.

If you have a good blizzard his summer 42 O will be weak and you will rape this one up by mid 44, very nice job.

The german must run back, and on the mud turns he must build the defense line. However, the Volkhov bulge is a very, very dangerous strategy, because I he will fail to encircle Leningrad, under the blizzard the german will be in a big problem.

How many men are you putting back into the front lines per turn?

Looks like in other games if you lose Moscow and Leningrad you only put 90k per turn back into the front.

Wow big differance. Allot of towns also he did not get to. The small towns really add up also to total manpower loses.
He is in trouble for sure.

T26 Soviet winter offensive.

Well.. Kamil is a good opponent. He start retreating with his troops, so I can't hit the german troops. Only 2 german div, and a romanian mt. brigade had been encircled.

T26 Statistic

On T22-24 more than 30 soviet div had been destoyed, so my troop loss are relative high. And the german retreat tactic prevent the high manpower damage.

Somebody knows what is the average damage on the 26th turn?

Soviet winter offensive

Post by Callistrid »

Since Kamil wish to post here, I slow down my AARs.
But all I can say that Kamil retreat in all fronts, without fight. What is bad for me, because he don't have any (or just minimal ) loss. Last 3 turn only 3 attack was happened around 5-6000 casulty. Now I'm near Pskov, Smolensk, Kharkov, anyd Sumy. The Donbass cities, Bryansk had been recaptured, and some troops march to Riga. And the german don't try to stop them.

I belive after T38 most of the occupied territories will be reconquer by the german.

Yeah, I have an idea about a rule change to deal with these blizzard runaways. Doesn't involve VP silliness, either. Just impose an attrition check on all heavy equipment in units moving during blizzard conditions. If you want to run, stuff is going to break down at an accelerated rate or be left behind for lack of transport. If the German runs he can save his manpower, but he's going to lose his guns and tanks -- and be in much worse shape to conduct these 1942 backhand blows.

Right now the blizzard doesn't properly reflect this logistical breakdown which was part of the reason for the standfast orders issued from Berlin. Movement came at a cost in lost equipment due to the total logistical breakdown during the first winter.
