Research output based on strategic lvl ?

Post by wolf14455 »

If I have understood this right, then I need to know what things improve my strategic value.
I seen that wonders improve it, what more to do?
I playing "Corporate nationalism" and I get slowing of my research level rather early. Got 5 colonies and research of 81/120 already, still researching lvl 1-2 tech.
Any advice is welcomed.

Corporate Nationalism is the ONLY goverment that is FULLY implemented.

What does that mean? Simple it got all the negatives a goverment can have. Others don't get all their aspects they should have. That makes this form the most challenging gameplay. It is not impossible, but you need to be BIG and conquering - like a corporate with hostile takeover and fusion - to counter the negatives.

My AAR told you everything about it.

Pro

Free choice of taxes without mali greater than -5 to happiness

Contra

Research breakdown to 20% capacity over time [after 6 years reached!] (no competitive labs, only your companys labs. This lowers overall effectiveness. One research, one result, no critics... bad!)
Culture limit at 50% WITHOUT bonuses. Therefore it can be increased by ressource or wonder (monotone society)
- 15% colony income (no free trade, no real impulse)
- 30% growth rate (well it's a bad life in the lower classes. Work, pay, eat, work, die... Don't give that to your kids!)
- 15% research speed (no competition for the goal and no motivation)
- 5 happiness even on low taxes
+ 10% maintenance cost (no cheaper products only those of your company)
+ 20% Corruption (typical bribing into positions)

CONCLUSION:

Corporate Nationalism, a real challenge and a lot of roleplay fun! It is logical, since we are not talking about the Krupp Works giving the worker recreation and fun and a house but we talk about the fact of the speculators finally owning all the markets and giving you **** to life. This is a company ruling distopia!

Ok, got that. Thanx.
But the rest then? For other government types. How to increase the strategic lvl? As I presume it governs the max research output.

I am not bad about CN. It got it's merits in the financial district if you did not get slow research on tech level 1 and high developement planets at game start which will break down to 50%.
Especially the unlimited taxes which you can use to starve the private sector to a +- 0 without revolt are nice. Still this goverment got the most negatives for it's positive and many of the other goverments don't get logical mali at theirs. Therefore this gameplay is challenging.

I'm just joshin' you Nedrear. Actually thanks to your AAR I played a quick game the other night as a Keterov Corporate nationalism. I set myself up with a massive crumbling empire surrounded by about a dozen young very hard empires. It was incredibly challenging, and since I forgot to turn off RotS story-line I got steamrolled anyway, but it was much fun!
