HMS Victorious / USS Robin

Post by Kingfisher »

Has anyone managed to obtain this carrier as a reinforcement?

saw HMS Victorious quite often in 1943 (PBEM games), but never heard of any USS Robin. Is this vessel in the inventory at all?

BTW, there are some IJN ships that seem never to be sent into theatre as well. CLs Kitakami and Oi for instance.

When HMS Victorious was on loan for the New Georgia landings she was given the temporary name of USS Robin

I have seen both Oi and Kitakami in several games, but always late in the campaign when the IJN is scrapping the bottom of the barrel for anything that floats. For the allied player this is a good thing, as these ships sport 40 torp tubes and very deadly in surface engagements. By the time they show the allied air power is powerful enough to keep them in Truk.

My brother and I have had a game going since August last year. We're up to mid April '43

He's said that Victorious is due soon, so I should be facing it before too long.

but her A/C capacity is rather poor, compared to the US fleet CVs or the big four of the IJN. And even though she´s quite a sturdy ship (armored flight deck), you can sink her with a few torpedoes...
