I'm thinking about Korea or northern Honshu.
Korea will be for sure less defended than Japan but to get there i'll need to expose my fleet to his LBA+KB+Surface Combined fleet.
I would think the China/Manchuko army would collapse into Korea if you invade Korea. In addition not sure u could maintain supply thru sea of japan. The good thing would be those units would not return into Japan.

Plus, what do you get out of Korea? Not like you need more airbases close to Honshu and its peripheral to the Japanese war effort at this point (although maybe somebody more familiar with Japanese production will disagree)
RE: HOkkaido conquered
I would expect an invasion of Korea to be a one way trip. Better to go direct into Honshu or one of those off coast islands to get the fighter bases.(is not that what we did in real life, get some off coast islands?)ORIGINAL: pat.casey

RE: HOkkaido conquered
The real benefit of an invasion into Korea would be to, potentially, drop the Japanese garrison in Manchukuo/Korea below 8,000 AV and force the activation of the Soviets.
Sneaky and powerful and guaranteed to allow the Soviets to sweep into China, collapsing the IJA - which Rader must be relying on to garrison Honshu. So, the best reason to invade Korea is its indirect effects elsewhere.
With that said there's a superior utilisation for those troops instead of Korea - at least temporally.

yup, that was the idea. Forcing him to lower his AVs in Manchukoku and so threatening the Soviet Activation...this should force him to divert some troops from Japan to Korea and so leaving Japan more exposed...
However i haven't decided yet so we're just speculating.
Anyway guys...let's not get tense. We're gonna begin our air offensive very very soon. You have my word. Once this offensive has started we will all be able to decide if our 4Es will lead the dance or if it will be our land soldiers that will carry the Allies to victory
RE: HOkkaido conquered
Just don't let him force or tempt you into a major naval battle unless you're sure you'll win it.
RE: HOkkaido conquered
Canoe Rebel is correct, I should shut up and let GJ play the game.
RE: HOkkaido conquered
Ser Greyjoy, that uh, thing, above is certainly not you. I checked its hands. Too many fingers. But, I think it would fit right in with the Walking Dead cast.
I go away a few days and the advice has reached avalanche proportions. How do you play the game, read all this advice and carry on a normal biz and social life? Your lady friend(s) will surely have much to say about this use of your time:).
Anyway, congrates on burying all those LYBs and clearing the big island. I'm sure the Emperor is letting his frustration show by now. That was an interesting bit of advice Nemo laid out about allowing the LYBs to continue to hold onto a bit of the island and continue to send men and material in. Very subtle. My feeble and blood thirsty mind would not have conceived of that clever trickery.
I have no experience with mass strat bombing raids, so all this has been a real lesson learned for princepbolton as well. I know swords, but am a stranger to B-29s. I'm sure this is going to be great fun. I trust you shall enjoy roasting weines and marshmellows over the great fires you will be bringing to the Sons of the Rising Sun. Just remember....they started it.

Rader wont worry about resources, he will need those transports for his troops....talk about a Mogadishu mile...we will have to call it the China sea shuffle....

RE: HOkkaido conquered
May 11, 12, 1944
After one week of constant attacks the II Aus Corp managed to break the japanese lines southwest of Salamua (NG).
The position (mountain terrain) was held by the 4th Jap division, supported by an AA unit and by a SNLF unit.
The II Aus Corp was composed by the 3rd AUS Div and the 27th US Div (those that were destroyed during the second japanese conquest of PM in Dec42-Jan43), backed up by an AUS light armoured Bde.
Our brave soldiers, despite obtaining 1-2 odds for 5 times in a row finally managed (also thanks to the 14th USAFF Air Force based at PM) to penetrate the japanese lines and pushed them back to Salamua.
Now the whole japanese front between Terapo and Buna is at risk of being cut in two. The 1st Guards Division still in Terapo facing the NewZelanders will have to rush back and so it will have the 16th Japanese Army trenched between Buna and Salamua.
During this week of fights the air over the Owen Stanley has seen some harsh dogfights.
The RAAF fighters took the upper hand and did most of the job. Finally the 79th RAAF Squadron, along with its twin squadron (the 82th RAAF), equipped with SpitsVIII, scored its first kills, facing not less than 100 between Franks, Tojos and Zeros. The AUS Spits and the American P-47s constantly cleared the skies above the II AUS Corp, giving to our Micthells the chance to break the japs' will of fighting.
Only during the last turn more than 60 japanese fighters were wiped out of the skies and we lost only 2 spits and 6 P-47D2s...a very good achievement!
In Hokkaido and NOPAC our 4Es are arriving and i think in 2 more turns we will be able to strike (time to get all my planes repaired and to absorb the fatigue of the long travels).
650 4Es will attack Japan in this first wave.
But i wanna wait for a decent forecasted weather (weather seems to be always bad in Japan).
On the West Coast finally we managed to re-group 1,000 transport ships that are already starting to load supplies, fuel and troops. 4 ASW TFs and 4 SCTFs will guard this important expedition
From a rough math i'd say that we should be able to bring at least 2,000,000 of supplies and some 1,000,000 of fuel, plus the equivalent of 3,500 AVs.
Our CVEs will escort the convoys while our CVs will guard the approaches between Midway and Paramushiro, along with subs and a good number of picket TFs

don't bother about waiting for good weather... - I've had the same experience with weather over Hokkaido... - it's always thunderstorms or heavy rains.... doesn't get any better... at least not in the 9 months I've been on this island now with my Allied troops...
sometimes your bombers take off - sometimes they don't... night bombing is particularly difficult....
