Move fleets from Baltic to North Sea

Move fleets from Baltic to North Sea
Apparently a fleet cannot move directly from a Baltic Sea port (for example kiel) to a North Sea Area (for example skagerrak). The move is allowed only if the fleet is already in a Baltic sea area.
Am I wrong?

When I get a chance, I will check but you need to control the straits.

RE: Move fleets from Baltic to North Sea
I've noticed you can go from the north sea to the Baltic, but not the other way round.

There's the Kiel canal, built in 1887 to allow ships up to a dreadnought to move between Baltic and North seas without needing permission from Denmark.

You need to control the straits
There's the Kiel canal, built in 1887 to allow ships up to a dreadnought to move from kiel to hamburg. Frankly, I'm surprised the game designers didn't know about that.
Also, if I need to control the straits I should not be able to move a fleet between a baltic sea AREA (not port) to a north sea area.

The Kiel canal is included, didn't it work? [X(]
So do you say there is connection between South Baltic Sea and North Sea?
I must check that.

I think we have two distinct problems here:
1. If the kiel canal is there, it's not working. I'm not able to move from Kiel PORT to the North Sea or Hamburg.
2. If a fleet starts in a baltic sea AREA, it's possible to move it in north sea through the danish straits, even without controling the straits.

1. The Kiel Canal is between cities, so you can move there only when you are already in port.
2. I'll check that.

Looks like everything is WAD, however we have implemented a rule which didn't allows to move units directly from port to port, without entering to sea zone.

Are you sure about that rule? Because I think you can move from port to port as long as the two ports are in the same sea zone. At least I am able to transport loaded German troops from La Harve port to Dover port (and disembark) in the same turn. Perhaps this is not working for the Kiel canal since the ports are in two different sea zones?

RE: Move fleets from Baltic to North Sea
You can move from port to port if they are connected to the same sea zone, so the move looks like that:
Port 1 -> Sea Zone -> Port 2
You can not move like that:
Port 1 -> Port 2
Port 1 -> Sea Zone -> Port 2
You can not move like that:
Port 1 -> Port 2

so you think that the fact ships in the baltic sea can move outside baltic only by passing through the denmark straits, despite the fact there was a channel built exactly to avoid them the need to use the denmark straits, is ok?
Strange way to approach to an historical simulation.
I'll make another attempt: I want to move a fleet from a baltic port to a north sea area, using the kiel channel. It seems it's not possible.

It might be not possible in one move.
Germans can move trough the Kiel channel, but Soviets can't.

RE: Move fleets from Baltic to North Sea
Is there a bug? I can't move any German ships through the Keil channel. I have 2 SS, and 2 BB groups trapped in the Baltic. The Hamburg port will show up when nothing else is clicked, but when you try to move any fleets there it's a no-go.
Must be a bug, unless you have to take out Dennmark, which does not make any sense.

I have the kriegsmarine fleet at Kiel; it can move to the baltic sea areas, Koenigsberg (another port) but NOT to Hamburg. I have to move first to baltic sea and the next turn to hamburg.
That way, it takes 2 turns to move from kiel to hamburg and 1 turn from kiel to konigsberg.

It's Dec 39, and I still can't move ships through the canal. I think you must own Denmark to do so, no?I have had ships in Kiel for several turns but they can't move through.

Only if you also control Denmark.

No, you don't have to control Denmark to move there.
Please take a look at the screen:

Grand Campaign.
Baltische flotte is ordered to move.
Green circles represents where you can move the fleet to.
Denmark is still under it's own control.
