convoys

Time of Fury spans the whole war in Europe and gives players the opportunity to control all types of units, ground, air and naval. Not only that, each player will be able to pick a single country or selection of countries and fight his way against either the AI or in multiplayer in hotseat or Play by E-Mail. This innovative multiplayer feature will give player the chance to fight bigger scenarios against many opponents, giving the game a strategic angle that has no equal in the market. The game uses Slitherine’s revolutionary PBEM++ server system.

convoys

Post by jjdenver »

I read in the strategy guide about resource convoys shipping resources to factories. From game start it looks like England has only 3 supply convoys set up - to Gib, to Malta, to Egypt.

Does England need production convoys to be created also? Are they automatic? Where do they run from/to? If England doesn't create additional convoys will production suffer? This is important to understand if playing as England or Germany running a sub war......

The PP resources are sent by British Colonies to England. England is only responsible for supplying them with more ships to carry the PP.

Let me try to figure out what you mean.

1) British Colonies is a playable country - so I should check that country to find convoys going to England right?

2) The 2nd part of what you said about England being responsible for supplying ships - do you mean when it is time to do the British Colonies turn they have to buy more ships? If England buys ships how would those be transferred to British Colonies? There is no way to give naval units between powers right? Can you explain this more?

Thanks

1. Yes it is a playable country located at the bottom left corner of the map. If the AI will control this country it will manage the convoys, if Human, then he is responsible for them.

2. Every time British Colonies will be short of Sea Transport Points, UK will get a pop up message informing you about that and allowing to purchase some STP for British Colonies.

Oh, wow - didn't know that about AI managing convoys. In PBEM do you recommend the AI play British Colonies?

If played by a human how would you know what convoys need to be run? Can you just leave the starting convoys in place all game and that is sufficient or would more be required?

Where do the convoys have to run to? Could you change them to run to Canada instead of UK and it will deliver just as many PP's?

Thanks

You don't have to do that. PP within a country are sent automatically.
You need to send supplies to your units which are not connected with supply source by land.

Countries which are not at war can't create convoys.

That is a good catch.

You can only send convoys to countries in your Alliance.

Added to Updated strategy guide.

Thank you.

No lend lease convoys to the Soviets then? That's kind of questionable.

Lend lease is handled through Options that I can remember.

I believe a pop up will appear and you have the option to choose.

I don't think you can set up a convoy to deliver 100% of your PP's to the Soviet Union.

The Options are quite suitable for the game and make a player think about the choices.

The AI will conduct lend lease 99% of the time. When they don't, you can tell when playing the Soviets.

Check your report screen every so often.

Ok, cool. Obviously you don't want the entire American war economy dumped into Murmansk, lol.

makes sence..
the issue is the brit colonies.. they are not part of UK.. and thus if i understand they must transport prod or its lost??? is that why the game starts with them shipping production to uk?

Yes, the Colonies are supposed to be AI.

They send PP to England.

There is nothing you can do playing the colonies.

When the convoys loose transports England gets less PP.

At some point the transports will be too low. Then you will get a pop up to purchase more.

So the UK looses PP by convoys being sunk and also by buying transports to replenish.

Hence Britain is squeezed and can barely function against a good German player.

Now the battle of the Atlantic has been recreated.

If your not careful a good German player will invade England.

Then you will be in trouble because the B of Atlantic has brought you to your knees.

You should see a good re-creation of the Naval warfare and of the Battle for Britain in the skies.

The BOB may be a little weak, but can easily be fixed.

I'm playing multiplayer with British colonies under human control. It works fine, just is unnecessary.

can you change mid-game during a PBEM game to have AI take control of colonies? Or vice versa, to have a human take control of a country that a human aligns? For example if Sweden joins Germany but was controlled by AI, is there a way to give control of Sweden to the Axis player mid-game?

Any country, of any alignment can be changed from AI control to human control (or vice versa).

yep.. which causes me to have Belgium as neutral.. effectively giving me two seperate play turns sessions on  server per game turn.. very frustrating, hopefully this will go away with war.. well certainly as soon as they are over run.. lol
