When spot a circle you may attack it.
In order to see what it is you need a land unit with in two hexes.
Otherwise use the photo as a guide. I stress you load the photo mod which has a different photo for every size and or level.
Click on Fighter. You will see the circle highlighted with a Red Hex if you can attack it. Must be in range.
Click on Red hex.
You just attacked an airfield.
