Espionage and Super weapons

Post by Stormy Fairweather »

So, one of the other guys seems to have found a 'Super Area Weapon' of some flavor, and I would really like to get my hands on it. I have launched a dozen or so successful espionage missions, but I still don't have it, and since the tech doesn't seem to be in the tech tree I have no idea how close I am to getting it. Is there any way to tell how much progress I have made?

As Ashebery implies I don't think you can get it by espionage (tried same here myself), so it's odd that you can get apparently succesful missions when trying to do so. Keep searching the ruins!
While the battles the British fight may differ in the widest possible ways, they invariably have two common characteristics – they are always fought uphill and always at the junction of two or more map sheets.

I think you can get it through spying, but you steal a very high tech weapon plan so the research point cost must be enormous. I´ve stealed from the dhayyut the velocity drive tech and it taken roughly 8 or 9 successfull spying runs to get the tech.

I can only assume that a super tech will require much, much more successfull spying runs to get it. To come back to your question, there is no way to know how near you are to get a tech thats not listed in the tree.

Thanks gray. Maybe the devs should think about adding techs like that to the tree once you have started researching it (just add an icon to denominate ancient, and therefore unresearchable, techs. can't help but wonder how long it will take to steal that tech, especially considering I have techs set at very expensive.

Stormy, I am just reading your post. In addition to that Super Area Weapon that Woodman found, I once found the Death Ray. I did not understand enough of Legends to fully appreciate the beauty of finding one of those wonderful super weapons. I have been looking ever since. If you find one, man, do everything you can to use it to the max.

But I have some really good news.., I am pretty sure in every battle you will find the World Annihilator (WA) debris field. The WA is worth fighting and dying for if necessary. Send a a Constructor over there and fix it. It takes a while. Once that is fixed.., holy crap that thing blows entire planets up in seconds (and everything else near it).., it is AWESOME!!!

I still have that game saved and I have not gone back to it yet. My plan with that game is to float around and blow everybody's capital up.., maybe even the Guardians.

So if you like cool stuff, go for the World Annihilator.., and if you find something special (Death Ray, Super Area Weapon.., there might be other deadly toys out there), use them and please report back to the Forum on what they do.

I found a advanced superweapon tech trough the destruction of a legendary piratebase a few minutes ago. :)

Thats the superlaser weapon the WA uses, but its pretty big, 630 if I remember right.

Gray Carlyle is right about tech stealing. If you steal any special tech from any race you`ll not get a tech from one successful attempt but a couple of research towards it. You`ll have to continue research espionage until you get it. You`ll notice a progress bar under the stolen tech it tech-tree.

Super weapons cost much more in RP than any other techs and thus you`ll have to work really hard to get it through espionage. Some indicator on progress of stealing super weapons surely should have been implemented or at least a new message saying that the attempt was successful and WE CAN NOW USE IT.

Thank god those pirates never put it into production!
