Frustrating message box behaviour

Time of Fury spans the whole war in Europe and gives players the opportunity to control all types of units, ground, air and naval. Not only that, each player will be able to pick a single country or selection of countries and fight his way against either the AI or in multiplayer in hotseat or Play by E-Mail. This innovative multiplayer feature will give player the chance to fight bigger scenarios against many opponents, giving the game a strategic angle that has no equal in the market. The game uses Slitherine’s revolutionary PBEM++ server system.

Frustrating message box behaviour

Post by Greyshaft »

I've restarted Barbarossa with a 3 hex FoW and using the same production strategy of only building level 2 INF until 1943 when I plan to convert 50% of production to TAC and ARM. I don't think this game will be as easy as the last one. I've just had the message box re: building defences around Smolensk but I can't scroll the map so that I can look at Smolensk and make an educated decision. How do I know that the Germans didn't take Smolensk last turn ? Heck, some newbie players might not even know where Smolensk is on the map.

The Smolensk is for sure under Soviet control, otherwise the event won't trigger.
However you have got the right not to know about it, so to do it you can move (pan) the map with your Right Mouse Button pressed.

I know it's in Russia - does that get me back in?

I really know very little about Barbarossa and the Eastern Front, having only ever read the magnificent book Stalingrad by Beevor

Sorry

If you draw a direct line from Berlin to Moscow you will find Smolensk about 2/3 of the way along.

GreyShaft (your name sounds like a STD);)
Anyway BTW I love the look of the map your using. One of the best wargame maps I've seen.
JD never knew you weren't into the East front.

Smolensk is pretty much directly West of Moscow. It was the last major City to take before they went onto Moscow. Infact that Map screenshot seems to far North and East for Smolensk, goto Moscow then move West and you will see it.

smolensk.. either A: speed bump for army group center on way to moscow... or..B; scenic location between Moscow and Minsk to escape the pressures of the workers paradise

Just wait... I'll try to get gwgardner to release a Mod that make the pop up more transparent.
