Stacking questions

Time of Fury spans the whole war in Europe and gives players the opportunity to control all types of units, ground, air and naval. Not only that, each player will be able to pick a single country or selection of countries and fight his way against either the AI or in multiplayer in hotseat or Play by E-Mail. This innovative multiplayer feature will give player the chance to fight bigger scenarios against many opponents, giving the game a strategic angle that has no equal in the market. The game uses Slitherine’s revolutionary PBEM++ server system.

Stacking questions

Post by Lascar »

Stacking is limited to one unit per hex. Is that per unit type i.e. land unit or air unit or can a land unit be stacked with an air unit and provide some defense for that air unit from a ground attack. If a naval unit is in a port can the port also be garrisoned by a land unit to defend the port?

I have read of some occurrences in the AARs where air units are overrun by land units and destroyed. If they cannot be defended by a friendly ground unit is there any possibility of them avoiding being destroyed, same for naval units in port, if they are defended by a friendly ground unit?

One unit per hex.

Keep the Air units behind the lines.

Air units have a defense, but they are weak.

Sometimes they escape destruction.

Thanks for that clarification. How does one protect a naval unit in port from being destroyed by an amphibious assault on that port? Can ports be directly assault by amphibious attack or by para assault? If so, is there no way for the naval units to evacuate from the port to avoid destruction?

Ports have a special extra hex (a nearby sea zone), which becomes the hot hex to click on to access the ships in that port. Thus you can have a ground unit plus ship units in a port.

Usually ships are kicked out of a port or are destroyed. Its a roll of the dice.

Strikes me as odd that an Air unit takes up so much space you can't fit a land unit in the hex. I mean its only an airfield right? I think panzer general and Corps is the same aswell. Never understood that at all.

I think it is for ease of use/play. Right now this game plays very cleanly. No messy selection of which units is a stack you are using. No messy selection of which units in a stack you are targeting. Just click and click and BOOM! something explodes. It makes a very, very large game play pretty quickly. Personally I'd like to see a mod/version update where you can stack a plane in addition to what you can currently stack. But I understand the design choice not to.

No stacking was a design decision on pretty early stage of the development.
