OT-The Good Wife.....

Post by crsutton »

Takes her husband to the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore for his birthday. Then to lunch for some Maryland crab soup. I thought you guys might want to see the photos. If you ever go to Baltimore, then this one is a must.

Now, I'm jealous, CR!  I grew up visiting "The Roundhouse" every few months as a kid.  My father liked trains as much as I did and do.  [:)]

I haven't been there in many years now, since long before the roof collapse and rebuilding.  Rubbing it in with the crab soup is just plain mean!  [:'(]

I've been to the railroad museum in Sacramento, CA a number of times. If you find yourself on the left coast, it's a worthy day trip.

Agree with USS Mike on the crab soup. I do so miss blue crab....[:(]

Glad to see that it is back open. I grew up going to Mt Clare. It was closed the last time I was in Baltimore.

We have several good ones around here.

Big one in Snohomish WA

And in my neck of the woods, a modest but quaint little historical depot and museum in Issaquah. One of the exhibits is a WWII army kitchen car.

As a member of the Tennessee Central RR Museum http://www.tcry.org , I visit everyone I get close to. The one at Baltimore is terrific. The California State RR Museum in Sacramento is also terrific.

interesting site. Reminded me that on my last visit to the museum in Snoqualmie, we did ride the train they have their.....old style passenger cars...a couple of them old wooden types. It was interesting. If Amtrack is the only train you've been on in motion (which was the case with me till that point) it was 'an experience' to ride in the rather bouncy, swaying rattly old train.... I almost got seasick! [:D]

When I was a kid my parents would put my brother and I on the train from DC to Birmingham Al. to visit our grandparents. 45 years later I still remember it well. They never worried about a 10 year old boy traveling alone by rail because the porters and conductors would look after us. I feel sorry for those who never got a chance to eat a meal in a real dining car with tables and while linen tablecloths.

That's awesome, crsutton. I've loved trains (and seafood) my entire life, so color me jealous!

Jeff,

My sister lives in Wichita, the next time I am up there I will let you know. You are not far from there. It will give me an excuse to see some railroad action in your area also!

As for the TV show, it is my wife's favorite also! This is getting scary...

My wife wont let me plan day trips anymore cuz of the infamous San Jacinto Galveston fiasco!! I managed to convince my wife to accompany me to The Battleship Texas, followed by a drive to Seawolf Park and topped off with a stop at Lone Star Flight Museum[:-] Needless to say but she wasnt real happy with me and doesnt believe me when I say she will have a good time[:D][:D]
