Well not for sure what happened here.  The combat replay showed a naval bombardment.  It didn't do much from what I could tell.  Then the troops landed, they took around 400 casualities.  Our CD guns roughed up some of the landing ships and there escorts.  Another 400 troops lost on the beach.  Then the Allies launched an art barrage another 400 casualities. The IJA troops were a Div, IR, and a bunch of Nav Guard units.  When I got the turn there were no troops on PM.  I thought great we repulsed the landing.  Then I looked at the combat report there was no mention of any of this.  HMMM
 
Between Brisbane and Koumac
The KB caught my BB TF of West Virginia and Maryland.
 
My night AF bombing went in scattered with no loses.  With this new change I will think twice about this.

Im guessing you repulsed the first wave, fingers crossed with you. In the old version you might have seen a banzai attack after the licking you gave them.

I'm not so sure, Zulu.  I got no combat report about any of the attacks.  It would be nice to say that i repulsed the attack.  I see the landing TF heading towards PM.  Another weird thing is that the bombarment and landing happened in daylight hours.
 
I am now sending subs towards the KB.  AC is being moved down to Sydney.  I have 4 DDs that are upgradeing.  I forgot to turn that off.   I hope that the KB keeps going towards Sydney.  I want to get my BBs out of harms way.

The attack came for real this turn.  No bombardment.  We sank and xAKL damaged 2 others.  One CL took 3 hits and a DD took a hit, all of these are 6 in shells.  This cost him 1,400 casualities.  He brought an ID, IR, 4 Nav Guard units, SNLF, arty, AA and 2 AF units. 
 
We lost the West Virginina, Maryland, Honolulu, 2 Oz CLs and 2 DDs from the KB. 
 
Both of us had bombing missions scattered around the map nothing major.

Bombing by air and sea. We put a bunch of new holes in some AKLs and an AP. The Japs shocked attacked today and lost over 4,000 to our 400. They also knocked our forts down to 1. Hmm don't know how long we can keep this up. His AV dropped over 300 points. I'm waiting for a sub to actually put tt into a ship. I have 2 Dutch and 1 S class patroling around here. My bombers won't fly with the MKB around.

He tried a low nav attack on my pt boats it didn't do so well he lost 3 Zeros.

The rest of the map is quiet.

I got to thinking I have made alot of mistakes. Things I shodnt have and others that were due to my lack of knowledge. The AI reallly does hurt u in a PBEM.

Art barage by us lead to 160 causualities. We  are bombing his ground forces this next turn.  Does anyone know if I can do AF bombing when he dosen't own the hex.  I want to bomb his supplies but he dosen't own the hex (PM).

A Dutch sub puts a tt into an AK with troops and then sinks another AK with troops.  About time.
 
Ndeni
He lands an SNLF.  I have a SAG 9 hexs out it says it can move 9 hexs so I am hoping it will engage tonite.
 
I turned my bombers loose last turn on 2 different citys Bankok and HK.  Very little damage but I hope it causes him to start flying CAP over his important bases.

Quiet.  Burma road still open.

Koniu started ground bombing our troops here.  We did an arty barrage again and nailed almost 300 troops.  I want to keep this up.  Our air bombing got nothing.

This area is really quiet on the ground.

We will sweep and bomb several new bases this next turn.  It's time to start being more aggressive.

Me too Zulu.  I have taken a moment and looked back over my game.  I can do much better looking forward to my next so I can improve on this one.  I don't think that I am doing bad this game.
 
I will hopefully gain a foothold in the Gilberts soon.  I am planning my next op now.  I will be moving troops into harms way more often now.  I know its risky but, I feel its time to start moving closer to stop his advance.

There has been a delib and a shock attack by the Japanese.  It has cost them around 3,000 men to my 2,000.  Forts are 0 with no chance of building them until we repair AF and port damage.  I don't expect PM to hold much longer.  I am prepping other units to retake it.
 
Carines
MKB launched a naval strike here.  We chewed up there Zeros atleast 29 went down for 4 of our own.  We didn't to his bombers. 
 
Just an overview on other things that happened.  Our sweep into Indo China did well we shot down more than we lost.  We bombedan AF in China and destroyed 4 recon planes on the ground for no loss of our own.  I am also seeing less sweeps. 
 
Operation SideTrack is going on as we speak.  Almost all units are on the entirely on the ground.
 
I thought Zeros were the Badass of the Jap early war fighters.  The dang Oscar Ic is killing me.

We still contorl it.  He has shocked attack twice.  Both times he has lost around a 1,000 to our under 1,000.  We will fly in an Aussi Inf Bn tonite and we have a Indian Bde that will land tonite.  This might be enough to hold PM.  His AV is not down around 300 or so.
 
Java
He has landed an Samerang (sp).  Only one unit so far.  Another invasion TF is off of Kalidjaiti (sp).  Subs are in the area.  Bombers will attack the troops and ships tom. 
 
We mined Rabaul habour.  O 19 of the Dutch subs puts a TT into an AK and gets drilled for it.  She will make it to port. O 16 puts a TT into an AK south of Rabaul. O 16 sinks an AK somewhere between Koumac and Miline Bay.  Why is it in this area invasion of Koumac?
 
Air War
We have shot down 13 Sallys, 13 Zeros, 2 Oscars.  We have lost 6 Hurri IIb, 4 Hurri IIa, and a cpl of P40Es nothing much.
 
Sub war
We have sunk an SC off the coast of Japan.  Damaged an I boat off the coast of India.
 
I only have 12 P38s left.  i think I might send them to India.  This is were they should of went in the first place. 
 
Operation Side Track is completed.  No loses we are building AFs nicely.

The Indian Bde lands except some of its motor support.  The TF is retireing at full speed to Carines.  It is being LRCAPed.  Koniu swepted PM with around 50 Zeros in 2 sweeps we shot down 12 for our loss of 11 P40Es.  I am liking this.
 
Java
Japs have 2 beach heads now.  Semarang is in control of the Japs and the unit here is moving inland.  I will try and engage it and cut it off from its beachhead.  Sweeps of Semarang is ordered lets see what happens.  Mauraders hit an AK with a bomb.  2 Dutch subs get pounded by Jap ASW.  One misses a BB.
