If she found out about the phone call then some form of punishment is expected. But I am sure Greyjoy will retaliate by penetrating deep through the "northern route".

Two things. Don't worry about your botched raid. It was bound to happen sooner or later and you still put a few hits on his factories. However, could you have had some LRCAP over the target? They would have gotten clobbered but would have soaked up some of the damage that you heavies took. Even two or three squadrons on LRCAP might have saved you 100 bombers.

Also Akagi is pretty slow to be using as a raider. He has plenty of faster carriers for that purpose. That would suggest that you were seeing his main carrier force.

Actually Akagi is pretty decent at 31/16 knots - as fast as or just 1 knot slower than majority of Japan's long range DDs, so the Akagi is probably with the faster Shokakus, Unryus, Soryu and Hiryu... Unless if the KB is split.

My CVs didn't find his KB....don't have a clue of where she went...i have subs, planes on naval search, everything to locate the KB but she simply disappeared in the shades of the ocean...

Our P-47s are sweeping central Japan, obtaining a fantastic 1-25 kill ratio[X(]...pilot and airframe superior quality are really payin' off...

Tomorrow our amphib TFs will move to attack Onnekotan and Paramushiro...then the second phase of suddenly hairy will defenetly be over

Great idea - if coordinating is a problem, sweep, sweep, sweep, then hit the factories. Good luck!

Ser Greyjoy....it is nice to see the LYBs planes fall down and go BOOM!. As Paullus suggests, sweep the skies clean of those vermin. They are numerous, but not infinite. Of course this is especially true when coupled with your strategic bombing objective.

I still counsel caution about landing in Honshu, but that counsel comes from the point of view of just avoiding war losing risks. If the LYBs insist on steaming the KB hither and yon in the eastern Pacific, then you have, for all intents and purposes, removed it from the field of battle without firing a shot. Landing in Honshu without the threat of major CV intervention does indeed make things far less risky.

Tallyho, the Penguin...may your lance stay straight and true:).

What are the chances the Akagi would have gone down if one of the torpedoes had hit?

What are the chances the Akagi would have gone down if one of the torpedoes had hit?

Depending on a critical hit .. that far from home any level of fires and flooding would have been a huge problem. As opposed to being say one day's sailing from a frendly dock that can extinigish the fires and stop the flooding .. the Akagi is miles from home ...

The problem was not a' hit' -- Greyjoy had the bad beat of three consecutive duds in '44 ...[8|]

BTW Crackaces, your math was wrong. The dud rate is only 10% now, not 20%. The actual chance of that happening is .001 or .1%.

The math was right three independent probabilites .... I just used the wrong numbers ...[:D]

In January 1943, all torpedoes with a dud rate of greater than 49 have their dud rates reduced
by 20. In September 1943, all torpedoes with an adjusted dud rate greater than 20 have their
dud rates lowered to 10.
Allied torpedoes were notoriously inefficient in the early stages of the
Pacific War, and this rule reflects their slow but steady improvement over the years.

However, in statistical terms .. it even more qualifies as the worse bad beat I have ever seen! [;)]

Yes, I stand corrected, math was right, wrong data used.

Well I used P(.20) because I read the rules that it is quite possible that the random die roll produces a torp with P(.20) [&:] .. as I read the document it says "with an adjusted dud rate greater than 20 have their dud rates lowered to 10" So I assumed the best case was that a random dud was P(.20) and not adjusted [&:].. but the worst possible bad beat is P(.10) * P(.10) * P(.10) as you so brought out ..

Anyway there was logic behind my thoughts ...

Back to GreyJoy and reducing Japan to rubble ...

Jul 24, 25 1944

Onnekotan fell as scheldued. Now it's time to assault Paramushiro. BBs, Carrier bombers and LBA did a real good job in order to open the gap where my soldiers dove in!

We swept Tokyo for the first time...obtaining a decent result (1-5 kill ratio)

I haven't. Only Frank production has suffered considerably...George, Tony, Zero and all the other productions are pretty untouched....it's still a long long way to go guys...believe me
