Windows 7

Post by Koniev »

Hi guys -

Just bought a new computer with Windows 7. PacWar will not play on Windows 7. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Unfortunately, Vista and Windows 7 have abandoned support for DOS, and Pacific War is a DOS-based game. You'll have to install a DOS emulator on your computer. The most popular one, largely because it's free, is DOSBox, available at:

Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Thank you, Capt. I downloaded DosBox and have struggled with it. I guess I don't understand what I'm doing. I have PacWar in it's own folder c:\PacWar but I can't seem to make DosBox find it. Any (very simple) suggestions?

From memory. With DOSBox running

mount c c:\pacwar

c:

pac.exe

DOSBox runs from what it calls the Z drive.  You mount your directory to its c drive and then change DOSBox to its C drive to run the game.

Everything is bogus drives, of course. <G>
