weird naval activity

Time of Fury spans the whole war in Europe and gives players the opportunity to control all types of units, ground, air and naval. Not only that, each player will be able to pick a single country or selection of countries and fight his way against either the AI or in multiplayer in hotseat or Play by E-Mail. This innovative multiplayer feature will give player the chance to fight bigger scenarios against many opponents, giving the game a strategic angle that has no equal in the market. The game uses Slitherine’s revolutionary PBEM++ server system.

weird naval activity

Post by zoot »

I have 6 battleships, 21 cruisers, 2 carriers, 6 subs off the coast of Algeria all set to engage, against one british cruiser. After 2 turns its not hit, and it has aslo been bombed 21 times. 18 out of 21 bombing attacks were intercepted, There are no allied carriers within range and I own and garrison all of N Africa.
This is not rational.

also med ships can't exit the med except to the persian sea via the suz canal. Axis ship from germany can't enter the med, the allies can sail wherever they want

Was it detected by your fleet? If so, was it able to quickly withdraw from battle? Where are the Allied interceptors? Malta?

Send the save game to Doomtrader, if you can find no rational explanation for the ship's escape.

Hit the pause key during combat and it will tell you who is intercepting.

Also, pay attention to Naval battle as the AI is programmed to retreat when it is out numbered.

Are all of your ships on one fleet?

Are they in the same sea zone as the cruiser?

The British have a much higher tech level than the Italians.

This makes is much harder to detect the ship.

there were 4 fleets in the same spot as the british ship, set on engage, the british ship stayed there for 3 turns and suffered no damage with 21 bombing runs and massivly outnumber in ship strentgh, there were no allied ships near, and Malta was mine.

You had abysmal luck in the die rolls for detection and hits, GIVEN THE CURRENT detection and hit tables.

It is only one ship, with a high tech level, and would be better at eluding, but there could be room for readjusting the detection and hit tables. If you're a modder, try it. If not, and this is a pattern that other players report consistently, Wastelands should adjust the tables.

German raiders were able to elude the British navy during the war for extended periods, so I don't see this incident as really bad - but it is on the borderline, for sure.

You need to spot them, not just bomb the sea zone.
Recon the sea zone until you spot it.

Once again, there is a reason why the Royal Navy ruled the sea.

They were superior at naval warfare.
