A wee problem with the 8th in St. Vith

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

A wee problem with the 8th in St. Vith

Post by Major SNAFU_M »

Hi all,

I am hoping the experts can help me dope this one out.

In the first image you can see the Bth's HQ selected, with a move order with way points and the ability to launch attacks enabled.

When I gave the 8th this order, all of its units were on or just slightly east of the top of the hill. The 8th processed the order, and then, to my amazement, the subordinate units began heading back down the hill towards the original crossing.

In this image I have selected on e of the subordinate units. You can see where its order is set to. All three of them are set to move to within a small distance of this location.

My question is why is the 8th's units going in the opposite direction? It could be due to the attack enabled, but there is nothing to attack where the units are going.

I am very confused.

To clarify,

The edited image with the blue on it shows the rough position of the 8ths units when I issued the command and the approximate route they took to their current positions

Hi Arjuna,

I have to confess that I canceled the command and re-issued it.  However, I have the save game and will reload and see what happens.  I can send it to you.
