Ship in Port - But it's not there!!

I have an on map display of a ship in Makassar, 1 DD. But when I go into the port screen it's not there, nor is it being repaired. FYI ...

Select All Ships at the top of the Active Ships screen.
Currently shows only BB/BC.

Ah, good catch. But the DD is in the repair screen, being upgraded??!! Going through the ship upgrade as the Japanese bear down on Makassar!!?? Why does the computer do upgrades to ships in such a remote base?? Shouldn't it at least be in a port with a shipyard? There isn't even a repair ship at Makassar. Oh, well I'll try to interrupt it, it has 6 days left on the upgrade.

Oh, I can't interrupt the AI initiated upgrade. If the Japanese capture the port I hope it gets kicked out. This is a real lame way to lose a DD. I also did not see any option to turn on or off the upgrade or to do manual upgrades only, unless I missed it.

In the ship screen, there should be a way to turn off the upgrade of this particluar ship. You can also turn off upgrades of ships on a list either the whole list or just the port you're at (the buttons shown at the bottom of your screenshot). If it's not working there might be a bug but I generally keep track of when upgrades are going to happen that way I can plan accordingly since I set mine to upgrade. Some upgrades don't need a shipyard as this might be the case w/ this DD sometimes it's only a few days but can be a couple of weeks. You should be able to see when the ship will be out in the show ships under repair screen.
