Hello folks,

I just smacked this together from google scratch. Thought I couldn't possibly be the only MOO nostalgic around here, so why not share!

Thanks folks!
After a bit of experimentation I finally got my Psilons running just like I want them to! Except for one thing, Kirsus the Psilon Scientist, the old friend that helped me reign Orion oh so many times, was missing, so, well, I made him!

Image

For those around, that haven't experienced the thrill of conquering Orion thousands upon thousands of times, here is the old bloke in original form:

Image

And, now for a few questions, where my scientist can't help[X(] Is it possible to add more than the current number of race colors? I found that the white can be used as primary, if it's set in the race.txt and you start a quick game, so I can actually give my Psilons an unused primary color. If I want to make more races however...

Also, I haven't been able to add a new category of ship names in the design.txt - and I don't want to change any of the original. Is it possible to circumvent this, without changing a current names list? I assume the shipnames.txt applies to my race - no matter what it is. I want to play Psilon, but also eventually against them - with the names I've written a list of - without any other ship names changing. Is it possible?

Hello Jon:
In the Legends expansion, you have a limit of 50 categories in the design.txt file. For example,
you can add your Psilon design names as group number 14, and additional race as number 15 and so on.
Just remember that in each corresponding races file to point the DesignNamesIndex value in the race file to the correct line number you want in the design.txt file. Also keep the spacing in line within
the file, and check your commas. That should do the trick. If not, post back here again and upload
your design file and you'll get help! Welcome to the DW forums! [:)]

Cousin, is that you?!

Seriously though, nice work! Who knows, maybe we'll see other MoO races in DW in the future.

Wow, Jon, this is really awesome artwork! Welcome to the DW community.

I am a huge MoO2 fan, played it millions of times; DW is the first game since MoO2 that really scratches that space 4x itch for me. I've been very active in the Distant Worlds community for quite a while now, and I can tell you that there are tons of Master of Orion fans in the ranks here. Speaking not only for myself but on the behalf of many of the players that frequent these forums, we would be extremely interested in seeing your renditions of the other races. Thanks again for sharing!

I've been play testing a lot, trying to make the Psilons feel very unique. When I found a good balanced build I'll trow it up.

Here's some more, that I have been using for specials:

Great work! It greatly exceeds what I would normally expect, even from a solid creator.

I might add these files to my personal Master of Orion mod. If I ever get to publish it, I'll ask your permission to use the files.
