Curious…why can’t we Pre-Order?

Post by Slick91 »

I’m ready to plop my wallet down on this one…when will preordering be available?

Thanks Captain Obvious! ;)

I'm also looking at it from a business projection sense. Why not allow pre-orders now (don't charge anyone’s CC of course) and see what your initial sales are like. Say that they are generating X amount of preorders per week/month.

I’m not second guess their decision, I’m just curious...

Obvious answers for obvious questions;)

I hear what you are saying with your idea. But look at it this way. The game is not due out until late this year. The official date is September 2003 which can easily turn into late 2003 (9-12 months from now). People that make preorders now might not have the money/time that they had when they made the preorders. A lot of things can happen between now and then. Matrix cant handle a lot of people saying "well I dont have the money nor time that I had several months ago so please cancel my preorder". Preorders will come roughly 1-2 weeks before the game ships (from the Matrix site). Its a long wait till then.........
I'm pretty sure Matrix has a good picture of the potential sales of WITP based on UV sales plus that there is a crowd out there only holding out for WITP and skipped UV. UV has been a success and my guess is that WITP will have the same or bigger sales. Lots of people waiting for it.

Also, when a project is so far from completion, who knows what could happen in the meantime. God forbid WitP should be cancelled or something *shudder*

Good point, set, and match! That I really didn't consider. Makes more sense now that you've mentioned it.

Can't wait...

DON'T SAY SUCH THINGS OUT LOUD!!!

Do you know what kind of Hell I've had waiting for Harpoon4 to come out?! I don't think I could handle another "Vaporware" project.

Besides, I don't really see it as "far from completion" as it is going to take a heck of a long time just to Beta Test the thing. Look how long it takes to do a UV campaign.
