I believe the earliest end date possible is for turn of Jan 44. This is controlled by the exe, not the scenario obc. However, there's an error that sometimes calls a win or a tie improperly.

Latest end date for SSI is first turn of Jan 46. Advice in the original manual says a person can continue to play if they want. Matrix is later, don't know when.

Believe because of the way the data base is made, game would malfunction after 255 turns. That would be approximately Oct 1946.

That makes sense for the 1941 Campaign. But I played the Rising Sun alternate campaign. It's called Rising Sun which suggests that it's dates and obj. match the standard Rising Sun scenario.

I've let v 1.1 run by itself on my 386 in comp v comp mode a few times and the Rising Sun does end after March there. In fact I decided to continue one of those games myself from that date onwards. :)

Now if the alt. Rising Sun in 3.2 doesn't end in '42 that's a good thing IMHO because there is no playable '41 campaign! Or in other words RS is the new '41 camp.

Not sure how the .exe can set the end date... Hmmm... perhaps hardcoded into what button you select when starting the game ('41/42 camp RS, Leyte, Mariana, Guad, CS) sets a flag. That would explain a lot. The added scenarios would not set any flags I guess. Perhaps they're all identified as '41 campaign by the .exe?

Cool... I guess I can play on. (well I know I could anyways but anyways) I never play to a end date anyways so it's not like I sacrificed everything to grab the scenario obj.'s :) (Rising Sun according to the data card gives Noumea/Suva 9000 pts and Oahu 27000)

Only I had planned to wrap this one up and start on a game of PWB 1.06 ;-) I did that anyways... :-) Hrm... now I have 2 games going... ack. 3 if I count the 1.1 x22 I played on after the CP vs CP game ended.

Reviewing my memory...

In SSI Rising Sun is short campaign that covers the period of IJ expansion and ends sometime in 1942. Victory conditions are based on extra points for who holds certan bases.

Matrix uses the name Rising Sun for its equivalent of Campaign 41, which is for the full war. This perhaps causes some confusion for those who have played both Matrix and SSI.

So it seems based on this that my statement about the exe controlling end date may be incorrect. However, there is an area of the exe concerning end date that may be edited. I haven't investigated the effects of edits.
