Wodin I think it is in poor taste to post a competitor's sale on a company forum. Wargamer is the place for stuff like this.

Erm sorry never ment to offend take it down if you want but I don't think Valve is a wargame competitor, Just trying to help someone...can't do anything right these days. I've seen loads of members recommend other companies games on here and I haven't seen you pipe up about it and sometimes there other wargames!

If it had been an HPS voucher or Shrapnel then fair enough you have a point and I'd never have posted it in the first place...but where talking Valve here...things like Half Life!

Oh and Junk I'm sure you know damn well I'm banned from Wargamer. Considering your on pretty much every beta testing wargame recently I'd have thought you would be aware for one Valve don't make wargames and two I'm banned from Wargamer.

Seems to be in fashion these days to try and paint me into a villian, so be it, I suppose you missed out on getting a boot in over at the other place. So please Junk put me on ignore. I'm not going to be made to feel unwelcome or sly and underhand over here as I was at Wargamer. So you can try but I'm not going to let people like you get to me which is what caused the mess over there.

Happy New Year

Well I for one would have appreciated the voucher. I see no issue with posting something like this. If Matrix wants to match it they are free to do so. It's not like Matrix games compete with Steam anyway.

I posted a sale thread as well, all the titles offered were 7-9 years old and going for $2-3 each,it would be good if all companies with 7-9 year old titles would do that.

I don't see a problem with Wodin doing this. These games are not competing games nor are they Matrix games. It is Matrix games' forum though and they are free to do as they wish. Wodin don't take it too hard it isn't personal.

I don't work for Matrix. Just giving my opinion. Matrix can do whatever they want to. I also didn't click the link that either of them posted so I don't know what kind of games they are selling.

Good grief, Wodin. Take a step back and a deep breath. You weren't told off, you weren't attacked and nobody is painting you as a villain.

I have some of these games since they were released at full price. Faces of war is the predecessor to Men at War and I think it alone is worth the price, but I like that type of game. Theater of war is hardcore tactical game and difficult to win without proper tactics, I also enjoy this game. These two titles are worth the price alone. Cuban missle Crisis is much like Blitzkreig was. I am not sure what type of games you like, but I like these ones in particular and I agree the deal is good.

Never been in 'poor taste' here before; this isn't Battlefront [;)]. We usually have a chat about who picked up what in the Steam sale in particular, especially strategy titles likely to be of particular interest, or especially good deals on anything.

Indeedy [:D]

Anyway, talking of the Steam sale I've been pretty restrained this year after last year's splurge (from which I still have unplayed games [:-]). Bought the new Batman at 50%, Shogun 2 with all the DLC at 75% off and a couple of indies for next to nothing. I'll allow myself one more sale purchase from somebody but at the moment can't decide between CC: Last Stand Arnhem and Achtung Panzer: Operation Star.

I've recently picked up Achtung Panzer:Kharkov - my impressions are here if you're interested - nothing deep from me - lets just say I've changed my mind from when I "attemtped" to play the demo.

Last Stand Arnhem - I just got fed up having bridges blown and seemingly having nowhere near enough units to take the objectives....but I am very open to being told I just aint playing it right. It's no A Bridge Too Far imo - but to be fair I haven't played it enough to have that statement carry any real weight.

As for Steam, I've bought virtually nothing - I can't believe I passed on the new Batman - what was I thinking?!

This is a family friendly forum and Matrix makes the rules here, but I think it does not any harm to inform other members about possibility to spare couple bucks, as long as those are not links to the titles sold by Matrix.

I'm buying various games, and if the game is available at the Matrix store, then I'm picking it up here, but if not, I'm looking for the best offer, sometimes this is the offer itself what is pushing you to make the purchase.

ORIGINAL: .... sometimes this is the offer itself what is pushing you to make the purchase.

Very much so at present; virtually all my sale purchases are games I would not have bought otherwise. Of course, there are some where you wish you had waited for a sale - Sword of the Stars 2 springs to mind! You get some surprises though, for each "I'm glad I didn't pay full whack for that" there's a " wow.. I really wish I'd bought this when it was released.

Whether that will change in future, I don't know. It may just be the current economic woes but prices come down so quickly these days compared with the past, even on many so-called 'AAA' titles, it seems increasingly wise to wait a couple of months for a price cut (and a couple of patches). It's even starting to put me off some indie titles, you want to support small developers but it is frustrating to see some titles at much reduced prices from launch after as little as a couple of weeks.
