Happy New Year....Greyjoy and readers.

Back from the big hunt just in time for Greyjoy and Rader to start duking it out in earnest. Hope your Christmas was bright and well, try to stay clothed for New Years...at least in public.

I say continue to bomb those a/c factories silly. It pays dividends in the future qulaity and quantity od advanced ac. However, air superiority (at least locally) is essential to a successful landing. The suggestion made above to smack a few airfield with 4E raids is also a good idea it would seem. Always nice to take away future production, but when the troops hit the beach, it is those planes currently available and flying that present a clear and present danger.

Hi graff and Bolton!!! Happy new year to all of you guys!!!!

Japan got the masses to push me out....and to succesfully repulsean invasion....i know....but i wanna try it nonetheless! I have only two choices now:invade or keep on bombing till 1946....the latter being a very boring alternative.
Then i know you all wanna see this invasion unfold....be honest!!!! :-)

We're starting to use michealm's beta from next turn....let's see how japanese CAP will work!

Actaully this bombing campaign has produced no less than 4 side threads in the Tech Support/War room forums .. hardly boring and most controversial! [;)]

Another sleepy turn in the bag....bad weather prevented any air operation in northern japan. The only action was the usual naval bombardment of hachinoche by the BC reknown TF.

Now i have 3 british CVs with my Death Star at PH....not bad. The real question remains how shall i use my CVs for tjhe upcoming invasion?

Checked all the LCU leaders today and made some changes....the best leaders are now everywhere in charge. The chain of command is perfect with 2 theatre HQs fully prepped, 2 army HQs and 5 corp HQs, along with 2 amphib HQs...really think i cannot do more to provide the best possible landing.
I'm also organizing the surface fleet that will cover the landing site...2 modern BB TFS, composed of 2 BBs and 2CAs each, with 2 more CLs TFs, along with several fletcher DD divisions and waves of PT TFs...
The only thing i cannot cover is the air stuff....there i know i'm facing the terrible risk of being annihilated by his betties....let's
Hope the micheal's new exe will provide some help

And, this time, Ser Greyjoy, please do not forget the blowtorches, sharpened bamboo shoots, the battery cables hooked to the metal lawn chairs and the other "tools of persuasion" that come in handy when you need a Japanese civilian to TALK. What fun is an invasion without a bit of pilaging, plundering and torturing? No pussy-footing about with these chaps. Remember the meriless misery they inflicted upon you for 2+ years. I'll even come along to help administer the "persuasion. Got a dark little room for me on one of your nifty transports?

Oh boy, oh boy what a happy New Year this will be:).

BTW, where are the New Year party pics? Canoerebel was asking about them. He seemingly has an insatiable desire to bear witness to your debauchery.

"Debauchery" is a great word! My wife used it in a conversation last night. I used it in a conversation this morning. And now princep lobs it into this AAR. That's good talkin'!

Keeping with princep's suggestions, GJ, you should also bring the "Comfy Chair" and the "Soft Pillows."

26,27,28,29,30,31 July 1944

We plastered 91 Armament Factories in Korea, unopposed and we bombed several times Ominato.
Rader was probably setting up a CAP trap last turn cause we caught some 30 fighters on the ground at Akita(those AFs are usually empty) with one of our naval bombardment.
For the rest nothing much happened.
Tomorrow we'll start back our strat bombing campaign if the weather isn't that crappy as it seems.

Another CV (Franklin) has arrived at Balboa, while the French BB Richelieu joined our mighty surface fleet.

The 5th USMC Division is 10 days from Bihoro. As soon as it arrives we're ready to go!

1300 ships involved....this will be MASSIVE!!![:D]

A question for you guys.... do you think the 4Es could do any significant damage (say 400 4Es) on port strike against the combined fleet (BBs, CAs, DDs etc) using 500lb bombs?
Tokyo is still full of BBs and CAs.... i know 500lb do not penetrate but can they cause enough sys damage to put the fleet out of action for some months? is it worth trying?
I mean....only 4Es...no crappy 2Es....

what do you think?

Well, you can assume that Radar will send out the Fleet in an attempt to disrupt your landings, so every Japanese ship that is damaged is one less ship that you have to defend against. So hitting the Port is a good idea from that p.o.v. .

But that gives me an idea - if the Combined Fleet is in Tokyo, what Japanese Combat Ships are in the North of Japan? If you can't spot many (and you had better be using everything that flies and can't bomb to be Reconning every base in Japan) then maybe you ought to consider a landing on the north coast of Japan instead of the south coast. It will take several days for the CF to move from Tokyo north if it goes around to the West, and if it goes East it has to face that narrow channel which you can blockade.

Also, why not spend a couple of turns bombing Troops in some of the alternate landing sites? It will help to worry Radar and give your Air Fleet some rest from the main Japanese Air Defenses.

I agree. Unfortunately the landing site has been decided long ago and i cannot change the preparation now. I have some units coming from india prepping for the northern coast....but this will be the phase2 of the invasion of japan....

Anyway tokyo harbour will be bombed soon.....the kb is out of sight...probably in the mariannas.

What i need to be carefull in bombing AFs an troops is the cap traps....rader is very ready to exploit any attempt of mine of concentrating my 2e bombing missions.

Ok guys, we've ordered to plaster Ominato again with a STRONG escort (need to keep that lvl 9 AF suppressed) , while a naval bombardment TF will plaster Hachinoe and while 200 P-47s will sweep Maebashi...let's see what Michealm has changed in the CAP routines...the sweep mission should be bloodier than what we're used to.

I think i'll cut the scheldue a bit....the invasion will start sooner...the 5th Marines will arrive in a second or third wave.

The idea is to get a strong bridgehead with the first wave...strong enough not to be broken and so force Rader to break his horns on our wall...and let the 4Es do the rest while the second and the third wave arrive...

Turn sent...

Remember that scene near the end of Excalibur where King Arthur's been healed and he and his knights are riding to confront Mordred with the music from
The Planets playing in the background? Anyone else reminded of that scene by this? Very cool. GJ, win or lose you will always be remembered for invading Honshu.

GreyJoy- I didn't know you wore heels? Who is that man kissing your foot?

Life is tough. The sooner you realize that, the easier it will be.
