I have learned the sad news that Harry Richard Erwin (Herwin), passed away on New Years Eve.

My condolences to the family and friends of Harry, a truly gentleman that touched my life over the last five years, while sharing our hobbie and good advices thousands of kilometers away.

Rest in peace, amigo.

Sad news indeed.

Always enthusiastic and committed to improving or understanding the dynamics of the game ... It was always interesting reading (deciphering) the subtext of his posts and (for me anyway) understanding what the hell he was talking about some of the time.

I got the sense he was passionate about many things and was very active in life.

Taken before his time.

Oh dear, this is sad news indeed. I normally don't post in such threads, but Harry was an opponent of mine once, and he was always corteous and gave a good game. I feel that he was somewhat misunderstood on these forums, but I enjoyed his postings nevertheless.

Very sad to hear, I'll miss his zeal for this game. R.I.P. Harry.

If I remember correctly he was a teacher at Sunderland college in England, only 20 miles away from where I live. Sad news indeed.

Sad news indeed, though lot of time I didn't have a clue what he was trying to say...

I always read Herwin's posts with a slack jaw. The depth of his knowledge was beyond me, but it was always fun to begin a reply something like this: "I need a translator to really understand your point, but..." And that was just fun - knowing that there are very smart people out there who love the game, and who work with it in ways that are truly surprising and delightul.

Sorry to hear this news of Herwin's untimely passing. One of our steady and regular community. Blessings to his family.

Sad to hear.  RIP herwin.
I think that the two obligations you have are to be good at what you do and then to pass on your knowledge to a younger person
