Dual roles and Recommodations

Post by Jack »

I just got waxed on the first Campaign Day in Watchword Freedom. I started wondering about spending my points differently the second time around.
I purchase an Armoured FO as the German. Would I be better off not getting one and assuming I finish the first campaign day exchange the AO for an armored FO? Would one quality suffer or would I be OK? Have any of you guys tried it?
Thanks in advance.

I don't know about v. 4.5. But in v. 4.4, the foot FO has a much shorter delay than the tracked FO. So perhaps you should try that.

Jack. Invest in two or three sections of those PzIII flame tanks. I took some to try out, and used in close support with infantry are deadly against dug in enemy grunts!

Use your own grunts to spot the targets, trundle up your flame tank and let rip! They also have a range of two hex for their flame weapon, so they can stand off without fear of being assaulted!

Here, here, the flame tanks have got to be almost the best 'bang for the buck'!! In my campaign, I only had the PzIIIh's and was up against the KV's, I would suppress the tanks with infantry and 50mm fire, then drive up to 2 hexes off, and roast me a KV!! Was real glad to have them, as it was, I lost 22 tanks that scenario, a full 33% of my tank battalion!!

Thanks for the advice guys. Don't worry about an armored FO. I will try the foot borne FO if you think it is better.
Can a unit be an FO and also act as the HQ or AO as we know it? I will give the Flame tanks a try.

Jack, you can always buy a foot FO and a vehicle to carry him around. Both are cheap. In fact I always buy two F0s if I have enough artillery, send one on a tank and the other I put into a halftrack or kubelwagen.

Interesting concept, Warhorse! I'll give that a try.
