RE: Before teleprompters
***********PLANNING************
1) Aus I Corps, sappers and arty/armour as you deem appropriate take the the New South Express to Sydney.
2) We show the carriers near Exmouth (I sent them 1 hex off Carnavon today) JJ has some surface taffy headed SW toward Exmouth. Maybe we ambush them, maybe we don't, but we leave the carriers under cover of Exmouth and Carnavon. The carriers, being faster, can hang around near Geraldton for a bit.
3) When escorts reach Perth, we start all the President class USN AP's and all AK's, xAP's with 14kt+ plus speed to Sydney.
4) USMC units, I Amphib Corps and one Bn armor will go to Brisbane so that we can embark all 3 divisions simultaneously. I will need to scrounge up some transports from NZ and Townsville. I will try to assemble about 100 naval support engineers to go ashore with the assault force.
5) We should take maybe 60 aviation support points and some CB's with us in a follow-on lift. I would like to get about a 1/3rd load of troop capacity on the assault AP's so they can disembark fast.
6) When the port at PH is 100% shut down, I will rest the B-24's and get them ready in Alice. The B-17's can pound the rubble at PH and start ground attacks at Broome as a feint.
7) I will take that level 1 field East of Port Moresby to suggest a planned landing at Port Morseby.
8) Br 18th Div will have to start down the road toward Katherine pretty soon if we are to pin that Jap division there.
9) Was also thinking we could take Bathurst Is just North of Darwin when we land to build to an emergencey airfield if we fail to take Darwin.
10) Do you want me to put some engineers ashore at Gove now or will this tip our hand?
11) I will move some AE's and AD's to Horn Is so we can rearm our surface combatants without going tall the way back to Townsville.
12) The BB's from Geraldton can come around right before we push off. We should also have Washington, PoW and perhaps Indiana by the time we push off.
Do you want to add any numbers or take any off?
Also, what do you think about a date for D-Day. I would liek to go ASAP even before Aus I corps is well prepped.?

1) Aus I Corps
The Aus I Corps HQ is a restricted until and will require 120 PPs to move to another command.
Also, what do you think about a date for D-Day. I would liek to go ASAP even before Aus I corps is well prepped.?
The 6th and 7th Divs seem to get 1 prep point per turn so it might take a while to get them to 50%. Fifty days in fact.

D'oh. Never mind.

I don't think we can keep up the ruse that long. Mabe we can carry the day at Darwin with some disruption to 6th and 7th?

May I inquire as to the New Guinea and Solomons situation? Are the straights open at Horn free from 2Es?

We own Horn Is., having taken it back from JJ before Weasel started. Horn is nearly a level 4 port and level 5 airfield. Merauke (NW of Horn is level 4.7 airfield) and is securely ours. Port Moresby airfield is reconned at 78% destroyed but 3 Sallys did take of from there today and failed to hit an AK. Lae is not built up, neither is Milne Bay. Rabaul is a level 9 airfield. In short, the Torres Strait is not 100% secure but there is pretty good air cover from the 50 fighters at Horn Is. and from Beaufighters at Cooktown if we hug the Australian coast. It is, of course, very hard to completely shut down recon.
PM airfiled is going to be a junk yard when this starts as will that other airfield on the north coast of New Guinea whose name I cant remember right now.

The Solomons are all in Jap control. We have a seaplane base at Ndeni which provides good recon of shipping in the Solomons. I have seen jap CA's heading North from Lunga and there are quite a few AP's there. I think they are drawing down like they have in the New Hebrides.

[:D] God bless him! At least he has a non-sedentary hobby. Let's hope his wife didn't accidentally order him a replica of Vasa.
Is there much inbreeding in Sweden? Oh well, I salute his hardiness, in France you can't even get a Gin & Tonic because they are afraid of ice cubes.

RE: Before teleprompters
Looks like another big Jap effort at PH, Reinforcement? Resupply? It doesn't seem like they are bringing enough ships for evac.
What to do? LYB carriers are laying off just outside of B-25 range from Carnavon. The B-25's don't hurt the BB's much but even a 500 lb bomb could ruin the day for a carrier.
Exmouth will be level 2 tomorrow. Seems like it is best to wait for that and keep the carriers back.

How on earth did you manage to get Itdepends to divulge the secret site of his mine?

Cause it's all mined out. All the money is in the mushrooms. BTW I was obliquely trying to refer earlier that it might take longer than a week and a half to march as I play two day turns (Toodyay Terns). From memory the armour travelled just under 1 hex every turn- so every 2 days.

RE: Before teleprompters
By my calculation the move from Meekathara entails 46 miles over Road-Secondary, 276 miles over Desert, and 46 miles over Desert+Rough.
Using optimal movement rates for Armor (assuming no fatigue at all) it would take 14 days (rounded up).
However I imagine there would be delays due to fatigue. It will therefore take a bit longer (I'd imagine 16 days would be a good estimate).

Yes - 8 hex distance between Meekathara and Corunna - assume an average of 1 hex per 2 days - and you come out to the same 16 days I mentioned above!
It is a very laborious way of doing it and if the Japanese recon spots the armor they can really hurt them bombing them out in the open!

I am a newbie .. but given a raid of 24 - 48 LYB twin engine bombers attacking between 5 - 12K feet ....I have found 4 heavy AA btn's will take out 1 twin-engine and damage between 5 - 8 ...per turn .. a couple of turns of this and the LYB go elsewhere .. plus damaged LYB bombers cannot hit the tanks ... If the LYB's attack above 12K feet the bombing accuracy goes down and the flak effects reduces to just damaging aircraft .. I am not sure how much AA slows down the armored stack etc ...
