Issue with automated resting-->hello everybody

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Issue with automated resting-->hello everybody

Post by calgar »

hey guys,

first of all i´d like to say hello. I´m new in this community and my Command Ops copy has freshly arrived.

But i have a problem i can´t solve. The resting function is killing me. I´ve tried the höfen scenario as the germans and i must say, every move the units make end up with totally exhausted units barely able to do anything. Just the move to the FUP was enough to totally take their breath. I also tried to rest them for one complete day, But even a fully rested unit was not able to do more then just move to the FUP 2 kilometers away.

Second thing is, that the units partially just do nothing or for a long time nothing after they reached the FUP. I really donßt know where my mistake is.

The game has the current patch.

Have a nice day.

Make sure est box is ticked none. Especially if you want the unit to keep moving. However when you do this you do have to manage the rest of your units at some point. Whenever I give an assault order or a move and attack order that box is ticked.

Also remember in a muddy scenario troops tire easy.

Should be able to move them all through day 1 in hofen (select 'no rest') without needing to rest them and without them grinding to a halt (though they will get very tired), then you will have to rest them at night (change selection to 'normal'). If you give 'Attack' orders, be aware that they take a longish time to be thought up, planned and executed by the AI (including time spent at FUPs) and that, in Hofen, as soon as the sun comes up at 7 you will be pretty visible and hit hard by arty, usually, and chances are nothing that you planned will then work because the VGs start off pretty poor quality and pretty knackered and they retreat (and rout) fairly quickly if caught in the open by arty. You can use 'Move' orders to ensure faster progress (tick 'attacks' to allow them to pause on the hoof and plan little attacks). 'Attacks' are definitely more effective to take positions, but you might not want to lose the time needed in certain circumstances. For example, at the very beginning of Hofen if you give a 'Move' order to the I-751 battallion HQ, with 'fastest' and 'quickest' selected, 'attack' checked, and 'no rest' selected then chances are the Battallion will march up the main road in darkness and occupy the Hofen sth objective before daylight (slipping through the enemy lines), normally without a shot being fired. If you give an 'Attack' order to the same Battalion then you'll be lucky if it's formed up by daylight and it will be pounded as it moves forward and probably break. Giving any kind of order to battallion rather than regiment will speed things up. In the above example if you want the 751 regiment into Hofen sth with its (lone) battallion then you could give it a separate 'Move' order, along similar lines.
