Meeting Engagement HTTR Scenario

Post by xavutrecht »

Here is the original scenario "Meeting Engagement" from HTTR. Battle over the 2 bridges in Nijmegen between the 107 Pz Bde and the 8th Arm Bde (fictional).
More to come but be patient, it's quite a huge work... [:)]

And don't forget, happy new year.

xavutrecht, is there a modified estab file that goes with this scenario?

Good effort but right of the bat I can see several problems with the map - Things have changed now that we have mixed-mode movement and you really can't just "port" these over from HTTR, you have to make sure all the roads that run into or over lakes, major rivers are not wiped out or have a crossing (respectively).

I see you allow motorized movement across minor rivers - I would reconsider that because it gives motorized units way too much freedom and was a major gripe about HTTR. But if you change minor rivers you will need to add crossings, etc.

All this takes several trial and error tests with the motorized pathing tools. Yes it's a lot of work, believe me I know[;)]. You may also want to consider making woods impassible to motorized, like minor rivers. These HTTR scenarios play out so much better when the armored forces are restricted to the roads and clear terrain like what happened historically.

Also, that river crossing at Overassalt does not exist in reality - it's a strange anomaly and I think it was left in HTTR for play balance, so I took it out for the upcoming HTTR expansion Pack.

Ah! Give me a bit of time to wipe my tears (my first try on a scenario)...

I used the Holland 44-45 Estabs, I tried to worked on an Estabs on my own but the Estabs Manager refused to work so back to what is available.

I'll work on the map, I have to say I'm very bad with maps. So point taken and back to work.

New map.
I followed simovitch advices:
Woods and minor rivers are impassable to motorised units and added a few crossings.
The Overasselt crossing was removed.

If anything awkward feel free.

Might be an idea to make some other scenario maybe one from CotA as the HTTR exp pack comes out soon anyway so all your efforts will be overtaken by the pack.
