China Situation
Changsha is abandoned as we take one of the cities behind it. Andrew decided not to Stalingrad it...

In the centre we will pull back. We are spread a little thin. We will now plan to occupy the defensive lines noted by the dashed line, and focus on Kunming in the west.

This will then free of the Southern Army units for use elsewhere, and ultimately some China based forces as well.

In the north we will harry him back to Sian. As we have cut off the far northern cities the forces around Sian will probably not get enough supply to grow... we may deal with them later.

SURFACING FOR A RECCE

Post by anthonykevinluke »

Time for a detailed Strategic analysis from myself .......... I like killing stuff.... Rob keeps me chained up and unleashes me on "problems" ...... I like killing stuff.

China was fun; the perfect bluff as most of the time I was holding a pair of two's and convinced our opponent that I had a full house, manoeuvre is tthe key you don't have to attack strongpoints, manoeuvre the enemy out, it is nearly as much fun as killing stuff .......... I like killing stuff (PS - Custer was just misunderstood!).

Sinking beneath the forum surface .................

Capturing Changsha and securing the Singapore-Fusan road is a grand strategic coup. I am looking forward to seeing how you reorganize your convoys after that.

That's a lesson I have learned after trying a disastrous river assault in my game. However, I thought that having the majority of China's supply making capacity underwraps for 6 months or more would have made them far more vulnerable. I was wrong forts/terrain trump everything, so maneuver is indeed the way to go. Those big stacks are more a liability if simply bypassed by Japan.

Nicely done! I wish I'd followed along more closely when you both first started, I would have learned alot and been able to apply some things to my current game. Great AAR and enjoying it immensely.

Cavalry, barely one short step up the evolutionary chain from infantry... unlike us more evolved HQ types...

Please don't encourage him; trying to stop him from invading places, like NZ, is hard enough as it is :)

9 March 1943 Good result in China.

The last third of the Imperial guard is on the way to Myitkynia.

DEI
More forces have arrived, not much combat power but at least we can now host a resonable air counter attack force.

An enemy unit has appeared at Carnavon, just as I finally fly in a small garrison. Our analysis indicates this route is the next mostly likley thrust line and of danger to us. Forces from Darwin will be moved this wayto counter.

Pacific
Another convoty is detected heading towards NZ near the bottom of the map.

China
Under intense air attack the Chinese defenders finally collapse. The losses are huge, and they retreat east into the jungle. We are now free to move on Kunming.

10 March 1943 Allied Air Force has a Victory in Burma... Maybe.

Your Tojo are losing to P-40k?!? [X(] Why is this happening?? Mine are eating them for lunch. [:D]

Then again, I have 4 large Tojo air groups that have steadily become very elite in pilot quality.

Now, if I can just find a way to kill those damn B-24s. [:@]

Indicators and Warnings

Subs

Burma
For some reason limited numbers our fighters sweep Silchar (see the image below, despite being set for range 1 they still flew). Fortunately no one was home.

He bombs Myitkyina trashing the place. Every days delay is good for us. Our 24cm howitzers give him somehurt back.

We will try our bombers somewhere different next turn.

We have about 70 Georges repairing. More units will be turn over to them soon. Then a mas ofa around 150 will be used.

DEI

OZ
We hit Carnavon port lightly.

Pacific
We sent a CA Tf after the lone Destroyer, followed it all the way to Midway but kept missing it bay a couple of hex. It has now got away.

China
We are entering a consolidation phase. Harassing thelast units out of the pocket, but leaving the door open... we want them to leave (after we have suitably trashed them once or twice) rather than killing them.

Forces have begun to move on Kunming.

Oil is building nicely in the Home Islands, and supply is back up over 600k. Fuel will soon get somebig boosts.

Waiting for Andrews next move, he isprobably waiting to see where our CV force is.

A bit of banter back and forwardson the Kuriles. We have fairly good garrisons already, with more heading there soon.

Burma we have bogged down.

Expecting him to head to Luganville soon. If he is smart he will also generate an axis of attack up the west Oz coast/DEI.

Anyway look at these fighter settings, about 10 aircraft from each unit attacked.
