I know the feeling. Several times while a student in the UK I was asked : "what part of England are you from?". I responded "New England". One young man replied, "Oh, is that near Wales?" [X(][:D]

A woman from California asked me where I was from.

I replied Grand Forks.

She looked puzzled.

I said Grand Forks.

Ayup. Trying to explain to my middle-of-nowhere Nebraska dairy farm second cousins once upon a time that just because I was from Northern California (near San Francisco) didn't necessarily mean that everyone there was gay.

I can't fault 'em too much. Them boys were crazy fun to hang with for the summer. Crazy drivin' down gravel roads and...get this...indoor bottle rocket fights.
