console codes?

I did try to do a search but came up empty but I am wondering if there are any console codes in this game? I like this game a lot and am just curious about any console commands.

You mean like cheats? There is no console in the game that I'm aware of. However you can use the built-in editor any time you like.

is there any way to use the editor to force colonization of normally uncolonizable planets? like gas giants or asteroids?

i have tried several different possible methods and i couldent get it to work

No, I believe that colonizable asteroids were removed back during
the beginning of version 1.0.6.0. Gas Giants are definitely not.
Neither are Barren Rock planets. Probably all hard-coded that way.
Shields are useless in "The Briar Patch"...

Though you could note the resource mix and replace the object in question with a colonizable one. This is the editor after all.

but it will work? i seem to remember some tests i did on this and it did not, not really sure though

You could 'design' a planet using one of the permitted colonizable types(s) and give it a picture / image of say, a gas giant. The code would not see any difference, but the user's eyes would see a gas giant. However, i suspect the game would still call it an "ice' planet, or whatever?

I do miss the Eee, sentient gas giant dwellers from Space Empires series.

Good try, tofudog. Maybe not work with gas giants, but what about "smaller' planets? Would your concept work to make a bare rock (looking) planet colonizable?

What I did for those screenies, was replacing one of the "continental planet" *.png files with said gas giant picture.
Then in editor add planets until the modified skin was actually used, clear all others and use the one I got.

So the short answer is: Yes, you could.
What does not work, is ADDING planet skins (as far as I tried), so you would loose some of the existing skins, and you won´t be able to control the placement directly (just add/clear until a desired type was used).

NEED..... MORE..... MODDING.....

didnt they just use the kaltor's to spread the virus? I didnt realise they were created.

Shows I should read more story messages. [:D]

Also Im pretty sure Giant Jellyfish with long tail is the Ardilius
