Turn 27 and I still have a big motorized div.

The extra MP's these guys get in 42 makes them like gold during Jan-Feb.

*IF* it doesn't decide to go rifle.

Static mode is really good for German player late 42 to early 44. I try to have about 60 divisions in static.

For the Russians the massive amount of men in the front and low ap's is why its probably a waste. 60 units for German army is 60 hexes of the front. Thats 120 to 180 russian units to cover the same frontage.

Russian logistics was horrible, if it was not for trucks from the western allies russia would have still been tring to take Keiv in 1945 hehehe

No, it is a waste because it doesn't work. It doesn't appreciably affect attrition. If it did so, then it might be worth using in some quiet areas of the front held in minimal strength. Particularly up north -- but that is precisely the place where Soviet units waste away the most and most quickly. Static or mobile, they just melt away.

You wind up having to shuffle units back and forth from the front line just to keep this decay in check.

Flaviusx - I have found that if you have two lines of Soviets you can do the static okay. When the front line starts to over-attrit, you move it back one hex and move the other forward. The 1mp allowance works. I will also say that I have not done that since version 1.04 though . . .

They can be substituted , but once done as they cannot be put into REFIT mode it will take forever to have them in combat shape again.
