Resolution Adjustment?

Post by coffeedemon »

Hi all,

I just bought the game and am taking my first look. First impression is that the graphics are quite pixelated on my 1920x1080 laptop. Is there any place where I can up the resolution of the game so it looks a little prettier? Thanks.

Welcome aboard, coffeedemon.
For better resolution on your laptop you can try use switches in game shortcut e.g.
"D:\Install\TurnBase\War in the Pacific Admirals Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -f -px1920 -py1080 -deepColor -altFont -SingleCpuOrders -multiaudio -cpu2
For more useful information about shortcut switches you can read WhatsNew.pdf in game folder.

Thats right, although you have to put the switch -f -px1920 -py1080 into the short cut for the Quick Start properties, and use that on your desktop to launch the game:

And it works a treat!!

Hmm, could anyone help me with resolution.

I have a couple of 22" monitors hooked up to my computer ( 1 for research, 1 for editing ). I play WiTP on one of them and while I used to be able to get 1680 x 1050 resolution now I can't. I had to re-install so I lost my previous shortcut which worked perfectly.

My settings are as follows: -f -px1680 -py1050 -skipVideo

I'd appreciate any input.

Well, that's that settled then.

Well, if you put an "f" in, as in "-pxf1680 -pyf1050" you can get any resolution even if not a native resolution supported by your graphics card. But certain things might not look right. For example, my old PC I use that but have to add "-noFire" so that things like explosions and various other animations don't work. It's a compromise but good enough for me.

It is weird. This hasn't worked for several weeks but tonight, after I posted, I fired up a game and it worked.

I think it MAY be that I retyped the line earlier tonight. I remember some people saying there were problems with cutting and pasting the line previously.

Anyways, it is fixed now and looking MUCH better. Since I'm just defending right off the shores of Japan I can see my whole map from Formosa to Hokkaido on the same screen now. No more scrolling ;-)

The cutting and pasting thing is that, in the documentation, the dashes had been turned into some other ASCII character that looks a tiny bit better aesthetically (maybe an n-dash or something - an automatic substitution made by the software somewhere in the word processing - typographical process). So, cutting and pasting yielded badness.
