So if I disband an US unit.  Do I lose any VPs or any other negative modifier?  I know those disbanded will go back to the pools.

SS Haddock attacked the same TF 3 times while reconning Eniwetok.  All TTs were duds.

China
Stack O Doom is not 21 units large with more units comeing from the south.

NanChang
B17Ds and the Chinese bombers hit the AF mod damage.  13 planes caught on the ground and destroyed.  I am planing ground attacks at Ichang and one of the LCUs in the open.  I have to be carefull and not bomb away all my supplies.

Ichang
Units are moving here.  A counter offensive is starting finally.

Burma
All Jap AFs are stationed with fighters close to 180 in all.  I am switching my fighters to train mode.  I do not want them to get caught in a massive sweep.

Eniwetok
3 LCUs spotted here.  Don't know what they are though.

Forgot to mention a few things.

The soldiers at Cayagan PI have roughed up a Jap IR.  Now a Jap Div has taken its place and is attacking our soldiers.  So far they are holding there own but supplies are low.

The US just graduated over 100 pilots with A2A above 65 and Def above 65 and Exp above 50. I have 32 pilots in the reserves with 70 and 70 (a2a and def).

China
Another fighter trap set by us.  Over 100 Jap planes go down to our 23.  I will have to watch the replay again to really break it down.  Jap units are now moving in all directions around Changsha.

PM
S 39 hits a mine.   She is in trouble.  Cruise speed has been set to closest port.

Ndeni
Has one LCU present.

I still hold Ambon.  I should of been building up Timor and Ambon, but I wrote that area off.  If I get to hang on to it I a big gift here.  I am going to try and reinforce this area.  It will take me awhile,  But if I can keep it I can either drive up to PI or hit his oil fields.

Also I think I will hold off on PM and go after the islands south of it.  I will cut his forces off from supply.

More later have to go eat with the folks.  nice HQ Zulu

Our DDs don't make it to Moulmeim.  They are attacked by Bettys and Nells.  We shoot down 9 Bettys and 5 Nells for a lose of 4 Fulmars.  Troops at Moulmeim are moving north towards Pegu.

China
Troop movements

Kendri
Jap TF is at the Hex.  A CL TF will go full speed to this hex overnite and attack (hopefully).

Ndeni
No attacks by our bombers.  Maybe tom.  CL TF is heading thaty way I put them on full speed but I think they will be a hex short.

Kurlies
We TT an AP with troops.  I have a surface raider TF close by I will send them into the area.  Maybe they will get lucky.

Its getting lonely again guys.  Do I need to hire my own twits, to bump up my visitation and talkitation (GJism) in this thread.

So he is reinforceing Ndeni.  I have 1 fully prepped US ID, 2 partially prepped tank Bns, SVC det, and an art unit.  I am thinking of bringing in another.  So should I?

I have a US ID moving towards OZ now its prepping for PM.  I'm thinking of taking it north to the Timor region.  Correct me if my thinking is wrong here.  If I can hold Ambon and the Timor region it is a big coup.  I'm thinking start working my way north to the PI and be able to cut off DEI.  Thats when I am strong enough.

Have you hired some of the TWITS from HQ Zuluhour?[:)]

As to Ndeni, it depends on

(a) what is your overall strategic plan? The number one mistake made by players is undertaking an operation just for the sake of doing something.

(b) what are the enemy force dispositions on Ndeni and surrounding areas.

Yes, retaining both Timor and Ambon will be a huge boost. For one thing, it means you can fully develop Darwin and send resupply convoys directly to Darwin from CapeTown. A developed Darwin is a good sub pen, particularly allowing for maximum effective use of your short range Dutch and S class subs.

Anyway it will get to be lonely if you are not committing heinous errors (from a charitable POV we decided to not comment on the recent loss of British BBs in the Indian Ocean) or putting forward ideas for future operations.[;)]

Looks like the twits worked.  2 posts.

Ndeni has 2 units present.  The next closest Jap bases is Tulagi and Canal.  I plan on takeing it to be a lauching point for Naru and Ocean Island, I want to cut off the Gilberts from the north and west.  Taking Ndeni will help me cut it off from the east.  Right now I think I have better options than going thru the Solomons.  I might go after Tulagi and the Canal just to keep my shipping safe.

Yea, I don't have a good track record with old BBs.  I guess its good that I'm not making terrible mistakes so far.  Hmm since I can't get anyone to talk that way.

Hows the weather down there Alfred?[:D]

Well if the contemplated Ndeni operation is complementary to moving on Eniwetok from Wake, then that is consistent and makes it a valid operation.

As to the garrison being only 2 units that is promising. However the important thing is to try to work out the AV of the garrison and knowing that 2 units are present doesn't disclose much. Get a recon on the aggregate troop numbers present, divide that number by 30 and you have a reasonable estimate of the garrison's AV.

Before giving the OK to the Ndeni operation do a similar check on the Guadalcanal and Tulagi garrisons and airfield plus port sizes. That will give you a feeling as to whether Japan is maintaining a local reserve or can base a counterattack out of the nearby bases. If it can't or at least your invasion forces can cope with them, then you have ticked another box in the approval application sheet for the Ndeni operation. I wouldn't be concerned about any Japanese reserves based further away as their deployment to Ndeni would be after you have successfully lodged on Ndeni.

If possible you should try to synchronise your Ndeni operation with the Eniwetok operation. Maybe that is something your TWITS can do when the boss lady is presentm reserving their other research activities when she isn't.

Thanks Alfred again.  I didn't know about the troops and divide by 30 calculation.

Ndeni has around 100 AV.  I will recon Tulagi and Canal.  Tulagi has an AF 2.

Ichang has around 800 AV

Troops moving to Rangoon has around 1,500 AV[X(].  Oh crap, I only have 800 behind 4 forts.

Level 4 forts almost doubles your AV. Then you also have to factor in the terrain modifier. So 800 AV at Rangoon is not bad. The problem will be the quality of the troops and their preparation level.

Rangoon Screenie

Rangoon
800 AV This consists of the units that start in Burma.  Nothing has be brought in here with exception of 2 AA units.  4 Forts.

My plan.  I will bring in a CL and 2 DD TF to use as bombardment TFs at Pegu then Rangoon itself.  I don't know how well it will work.  Bombardments never worked for me in my AI games.  Even with night recon planes.  When the units reach Pegu.  I will try and hit them with strafe attacks from Fulmars and bomb them with my 4Es and 2Es.  I can bring in TT planes if I want.

Koniu has 145 fighters in the area. I will attempt sweeps in time. I will start reconning other bases to find his bombers. If I find these bases are undefened I will bomb them to pull his fighters away.

Has been quiet. I have just now seen him sending ships up to the Kurlies. I have cats out searching for anything. I once saw a sub up here but thats was back in Jan. Nothing since. But will contiue to build up. Might even make some feints into the Kurlies. This route has been used alot in recent AARs. I bet Koniu is looking for an attack up here.
