Only Idi's old unit is in decent shape. F4F's and Hurricanes and P-38's will sweep over Port Hedrand and everything else is on ground attack. There are about 25 Tojos left there. Severe storms ove PH may ground JJ and hamper our attacks. About our only hope is the LYB's elect to take a day or two off to regroup. I think we had a case of Stalemate Disease" [:)]

Ugh...that's nasty.

Look at the bright side, I guess...disruption in the remaining 9 squads appears low. [8|]

ETA: In spite of watching their comrades fall around them and being entirely outclassed and outnumbered, morale appears high in all your LCUs. Jolly good job of generalship, sir. Jolly, jolly good. They'll be quite contented and productive POWs if this trend continues.

ETA II: Oops. Sorry. Forgot that the Japs are unlikely to take prisoners.

Yes...that does bring up a question. Let's say, for the sake of discussion, that things were not to go well. Would they retreat or surrender?

If you own any hexsides (can be checked with the "w" key) then you can retreat. Otherwise they will surrender. Since you invaded, you don't own any hexsides as you arrived in the hex by sea.

Ah...splendid! We do own the hexside that goes out to sea. All we need then are about 20,000 innertubes.

As Witpqs and Grollub have pointed out, they can't retreat and will be liquidated in situ.

Can you 'move' your 32nd ID out of the hex towards a point of supply? It's not doing you much good there anyways. If you can clear the hex side ownership, you may be yet able to salvage a retreat.

Since I haven't played for a while I'm not really sure of this, but I don't think 32ID (and partners) can open up a retreat route by themselves. I think some outside unit has to move in to the hex to change the hexside ownership. I could be wrong though?

Nope..it has to come from the outside.

The options are:

March overland from Exmouth or Meekathara

Paradrop or beach landing in an adjacent hex and march in (I dont think we have a house rule against this)

Capture Corunna and march North

Stand to the last man in place

Thought so ... then maybe it's time to revive the "Itdepends" plan and look for that desert mushroom trail? [:'(]

Hmmm...that limits your options considerably. Too bad. Could you move 32ID out and then move 'em back in, or is all movement (other than the innertube option) off for them?

March overland from Exmouth or Meekathara

Nope. They'll be eating rice in a Sapporo POW camp by the time that March makes it in to PH.
Paradrop or beach landing in an adjacent hex and march in (I dont think we have a house rule against this)

Maybe. I'd drop on the trail, so's to expedite your march in in that case.
Capture Corunna and march North
My second choice, as this would take more time to march up the trail.
Stand to the last man in place
How very iron-man dictatorish of you. Idi Amin (WWIIc) would be proud.

You don't have a HR preventing invasions/paradrops at non base/dot base hexes?

Personally- you're forked.
