Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge Gets an Update

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Wodin,

It just struck me, what you said: To be fair, no engineers had used or been close to the road bridge when it gets blown. But this has never been a factor in past FJ drops, pre-patch. I have taken the bridge, sometimes even the rail bridge as well, in the past.

Thanks,
Nate

All,

Not sure where to post this... Forgive me if I'm wrong.
A new bug question thread in the General forum would be more appropriate than a marketing announcement thread.
1.) FJ take WAY too long to reorganize after landing (31 min. avg. in 3 tries). Even having to collect their Hvy Wpns and Ammo from separate cannisters, they should be on their way to initial objectives far sooner. No German operation would have ever succeeded if this was the case. I began noticing this in COTA, and it seems worse in BFTB/Brand new patch.
You don't have to wait until the unit has obtained 100% cohesion to move out to your objectives. Sometimes it will be highly un-advisable to do so (Arnhem).
2.) If a bridge is secured (the green square), one has to believe that it IS secure (all charges unwired, etc.) before this announcement is made. The bridge should not be able to be blown at 0753 if it was secured at 0455 and multiple companies have moved over it.
I think you can obtain "secure' if it is still 50% primed. Which means it can still be blown but it is that much more unlikely, but I've seen it happen. I think it's a fairly good abstraction of the remote possibility that at least one enemy still had a hand on the switch and not all of the charges had been removed, especially if it was not done by trained personnel. That's my take on it anyway.
3.) I. SS Pz. Kp. was stuck in movement for over an hour. I thought the new patch was supposed to adress this?
Need more to go on here. the entire Corps was halted? Did you give an order to the Corps HQ or one of the lower HQ's? What is the orders delay set? was there enemy threats? etc.

@ Nate25: Here's my first try - Huy bridge secured by the FJ and unprimed. I assume this is the bridge you are talking about.

Note that I did not order a reorg, I ordered a secure crossing right as they landed.

Hi everyone,

The store is on a completely separate network that has much more bandwidth than the update server, which is definitely busy today. We are planning to review the download performance for updates tomorrow and add more bandwidth as necessary, but please be aware that update download speed has nothing to do with store download speed.

Regards,

- Erik

Download speed it still lousy today. I'm only getting about 60K/sec right now. This is my second try getting the file as the first time it failed to download properly.

Simovitch,

Thanks. I finally secured the bridge on the 8th try (the rail bridge as well!) without them being blown.

I always issue orders to "secure crossing" as soon as the individual companies land.

Not sure how you move your units that quickly while I'm forced to wait for VdH to collect every single loose clip of 7.92 lying around.

On the 8th try I issued orders immediately and the bttn once again went into a lengthy re-org.

BTW cohesion gravitates to the choesion level of the formation being used during a Move. For road column it's 70 or 80% IIRC. So there is no point in reorging past that level if you are going to have them move anyway.

Crash here also at 99% both updates, after two hours... Something with a timeout. During downloading both stopped at 99%.

Tomorrow again.

nate,

Richard meant the root level of the Command Ops forum not the General Discussion forum for Matrix.

Hi all,

I am sorry about the download speeds and difficulties. This is something Matrix needs to respond to.

My fault.

Trying to run a scenario and pay attention to this at the same time.[8|]

We see how well that's working.

Same for me. I get a timeout after 99%. Never seen this before from a Matrix DL.

Don't mean to pile on but this download situation really should be a priority.

Just purchased the expansion, and that only took 3 minutes for 284 MB. As Erik said, the store is a separate source.

The expansion came out today, after the patch. Does the expansion not include the patch?
