Receive the strategy guide for free?

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Although I would have likely purchased anyway, this manual was the main reason I pulled the trigger on near day-one. In the end happy with my purchase and continue to appreciate the efforts of this developer. I currently own all of their games and will likely continue to do so in the future.

May I ask where to find the guide?  I must be missing it.

I have the game manual that came with HTTR and the strategy guide that I bought of separately (download only). I think the guide that was for sale separately was far more detailed than the manual that came with the game.

Is this the Strategy guide those who had HTTR had to buy if they wanted it (I bought it years ago)..or the manual that came with HTTR which had a smaller strat guide in it?

They are two completely different things..HTTR manual (a good one with tips\guide in it) or HTTR Gude (a big one that was made after release that went up for sale, it was never given to those with the old HTTR, yet the quote says "will receive the strategy guide that came with the original Highway to the Reich game")

I'd like to know myself...I've tried to download and install this a number of times but its a no go. I've used the serial number provided in the members club and get the message "you have entered an invalid serial number" Also have tried my BftB and HttR serials and get the same result [:(].

Another strange popup at the beginning of the install requires both a user name and company. Not sure what to use as the company name but it won't proceed w/o entering at least one character.

To me it appears to be the manual you purchased in the past, not the included manual. It is about 189 pages long. It is also different than the manual I received with the original HTTR game.

As for the serial number, I used the one that was listed in the description of the download file from the registered area and it worked fine for me. make sure to not have blanks and such. As for the company name, you can put anything you want there. I just used my name. It is not used for anything.

Thanks for the info...I was trying to copy and paste the serial number from the registered area. I manually typed in the number and the install worked.

Btw, the manual looks like the one I purchased w/ the original HttR

Downloaded this with no problems, just cut and paste the serial number from the message that advised it was available.

The booklet badly needs a re-write, numerous errors (spelling or wrong title used, ie; 69th Infantry Division sbe Brigade, talks of 1st Parachute Div, should this be 1st Airborne Dib or 1st parachute Bde??)

Probably state of the art at the time and still a useful read.

oldspec - copy and paste probably didn't work because it left a space on the end (I found that out) - removed the space and it worked just fine

Also - the Company field - just put a space in there. This reminds me of the "old" Matrix installers. I remember my very first Matrix game and probably my first moan here was about requiring to put something in the Company field. They got rid of that quite some time ago though.

I see you're sorted now anyway - so just posting in case anyone else has an issue.

What's the reason for wrapping HTTR Strategy Guide in an installer? Why not a simple pdf?

Reason for asking: I have HTTR, COTA and BFTB running fine on a MacBook using the pc emulator CrossOverGames, but since upgrading the OS to Lion I've been unable to open any of the Matrix installers.

I am guessing so it could be officially registered like their other products. May also help "lessen" the desire to illegally pass it around to others, but of course can't prevent that because in the end just a standard PDF.

Aha! Wasn't expecting that. A bit late in the day to be so proprietorial about an aged game?

I normally put 'Private' in the company box, but I can't get the Manual Installer to work, whatever combination of name and serials that I put in the boxes. [&:]

Make sure to use the serial number that is within the description area of the manual in the reigstered area. Some people have had issues with copy/paste, so I would recommend manually typing it in. You can't use the serial number from your actual Bulge or HTTR game. Then in the company name field, put anything you want. That is used for nothing.

That sorted it, I had not seen the additional serial number, thanks very much.[:)]
