strange behaviour?

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

strange behaviour?

Post by Phoenix100 »

So, I think I have seen a few instances now of units attaching themselves to other HQs despite my orders. Anyone else seen this?

Here's an example below. Anyone any idea why this would happen? This pic shows the organic structure. As far as the 9.2 is concerned it should still be attached to its parent, which is 3 Bn 2SS, which has an order to take the bridge at Habiemont (off pic) and is now resting en route to that. Until a couple of minutes ago the 9.2 was trying to catch up with its Bn. It was delayed because it was tasked individually, by me, to deal with some Shermans en route. They're gone now and so I reattached it. It should have reconnected to 3 Bn, right, and continued along the valley? Suddenly I notice it heading back to Stavelot (where Piper is tasked with defending that town). Why?

Here's a pic with 'Player structure' shown, which explains that the 9.2 has indeed reattached itself to Piper instead of to the III-2. Is this normal?

mmm...interesting. Do you have a saved game taken before you hit the reattach button?

Since noticing this it's happened a few times in other circs. Really keen for an answer as it's very irritating. Why would the unit attach itself to Piper? I realise he's scary ('blow-torch' Piper) and might need help in stavelot, but surely he can't just grab units like that?

No, Dave, sorry. Saved it just after. I can keep an eye out, of course, and try to save before I reattach in future.
