The bomber group assigned the a-bomb mission should be alone at its base; no other air groups. Don't assign a target for the airbase, the computer picks the target. If all else fails, try a different bomber group. I've sometimes gone several turns without an attack, but giving a different BG the mission results in an attack right away.

I have more BG at this bases, to decrease the chance the Bomber with the A-Bomb gets blown out of the sky.

Will try to leave them alone now.

BTW: Are A-Bombs effective against supply depots, troops or so?

In plays years ago with earlier versions i hit tokyo 3 times but after game it looks nearly undamaged...this city must have been vaporized, including the 6 Divisions located there, which have still 100% readiness.

Please pardon my ignorance, but what game are you referring to? Is this a beta test?

Try placing the BG with the A-bomb on night attack. That was the way it used to work. You could specify the target and the date in the old days.

AFAIK, the atomic bomb does not effect fuel, supply, ships, aircraft, or LCUs at the target. It causes civilian deaths, between 25,000 and a little over 100,000, and destroys one factory at the target base. Personally, I think there should be some chance of damage to other assets in the target hex, but remember, the hex is 100 miles across. There's lots of room to hide there, even from an atomic bomb.
