Need some help

I bought this game in 06. Looked too comprehensive because I was working. Now I'm retired. Have played UV and now would like to play longer games. Would appreiate some inisght on all the patches I have to install to get me up and running. Get me up to date and I'll let you beat the crap out of a newbie, or, I'll relate some "no sh1t" war stories from my 17 years on sea duty...Google USS Stark (FFG-31) May 87 for a brain teaser.

Do full install of original game ... this will either be 1.5 or 1.8 ... make sure it works ... i.e. bring it up and run a turn.

Then install patch 1.8.0.4 ... this is a comprehensive patch including all prior patches ... and again make sure it works ... i.e. bring it up and run a turn.

Then install patch 1.8.0.6 .. this is the final officially released patch. Bring it up and make sure it works. Then you will be ready to play.
