Has anybody started a new game as Soviets against the Axis AI

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Has anybody started a new game as Soviets against the Axis AI with the new patch? If so what settings are you using? I currently have a game against the Soviet AI with Normal settings and am considering in trying out this new patch as the Soviets.

119/100 in all categories.

I think there are extra bonuses that kicks in at 120. I like to play with my side on normal so as to not develop a biased feel for it.

Gary likes to give the attacking side AI a 110 morale bonus and no other changes. I'd suggest doing that at a minimum.

I started a new 41-45 AI Campaign yesterday with the new patch 59C, as the Axis, and my setting is the normal 100/110. I had used this setting under my last start in 53, and there were no big surprises. But I did notice that the AI is more stubborn in 53, than in the early patch.

For AI games I found it fun to give the AI big additions, but not reduceyourself, particularly in admin and morale. a good one is 120+ for the AI across the board, but you at 100, logistics stuff at 80 or 90.

Hi all,

We think that 110% to Axis AI vs 100% for Human can give quite interesting game in 1941-1945 grand campaign... [:)]

Anyone willing to play with such settings and, possibly and hopefully, post AAR? [:)]

Larry? [:D]

I play 110% Axis AI, 100% Soviets Human, and do nothing for the first 4 turns. I'll start that again with 59C and try to get an AAR together. 53 was a disaster, I got completely rolled in March 1942 (basically no different to playing a Human at that point in the game).

Just getting started. Set the AI to 110% morale and left the rest at 100. Once I get a feel of the Soviet side and see if I can do what I want then I will probably up everything to about 120%.

It takes some getting used to as the Soviet forces are in kind of a shambles....[:)] The Axis AI motorized and armor divisions bypass everything they can and the infantry will attack when it catches up. My initial air losses were only 1148, which kind of low but a good thing for my side.

I'm playing as the Axis against AI @ 120 in everything except fort building. It's a slow go, but I'm making some big pockets once in a while. It's mid-August and I'm at 350K for casualties already - much heavier than I'm used to seeing. Leningrad is threatened, Smolensk/Kiev/Odessa are all mine.

Hi

Im playing verus Ai at the moment, I must say wow, what have you done to it.

Its starting to feel a bit like im playing a human in parts, always looking for encirlements when its suits. When it finds a stubborn unit it attacks hexes either side then surrounds the unit for the next turn. Im finding it rather slow in the South but as you can its making excellant progress in the middle and now in the North.

AI is at 110% on morale, but im really enjoying playing in the GC41 for a change.

Couple of notes though...why no airbase bombing after first turn. granted im pulling 80% of airforce to the NR but nothing. Only the minimum recon as well 2-3 per turn.

Ive tryied uploading some screen but the files seem to be a little to large.

Keep it up. the enhanced Ai makes a real difference [&o]as I cant play 1on1 at the moment due to RL stuff.

Hi!
Not bad for a complex game after 19 turns!
AI against AI. 110-90. Soviet Turn 19 - 23 oct-41.
Front from Moskau - Kursk.
Look at the historical dates of occupation and compare to game!

You have to give the AI some "house rules" as there are some things it doesn't do. It didn't send any troops through the marsh so any units in there could have come out from behind to cut off supply lines. The units I had in there just made there way through the marsh to the far side. The AI doesn't garrison cities. I know that because I have quite a few partisan units popping up so decided not to take advantage of that situation, at least not yet...[:)]

Otherwise the AI is very good! Here is a screen shot of the current casualties at the beginning of turn 6, where I'm playing against the Axis AI. In the message below I'll post a screen shot of when I played the against the Soviet AI. The AI is doing a better job against me than I did against it!

I am playing against the Axis AI (110% morale vs 100%) and my losses at the start of Turn 6 are very similar - just a few thousands off here and there.
