Carriers & other ships disappear from PH

I'm in mid August of 1944 in a single player, single day turn game playing the allies. Several game months ago I started having a problem where carriers of all types would disappear from PH when I loaded a saved game. Sometimes when they'd disappear they would take other ships with them, starting with BBs and working down the list that pops up when you hover over the anchor symbol at PH. I was able to work around the problem for a while by keeping all carriers at PH in task forces unless they were under repair/upgrade.
Now it has become unplayable. If I take carriers out of a task force and leave it at PH for any reason (including repair/upgrade)all my carriers at PH not in a task force disappear and take all my BBs and I'm not sure what all else with them.

What should I do?

I believe it is a reporting error that has to do with a max limit on the number of ships in port that can be reported. I think they are still there just not showing up on the list. pull a few hundered ships out of the port and they should reappear on the list.

Their suspicions are also mine, but all you need to do is take a bunch (100's) of freighters and put them in task forces, they don't actually have to leave the port. I'm wondering why you have so many at Pearl though, is this a northern strategy? I did the same thing once at Rabaul (as the Allied player) and made sure I never did it again.

it is probably as Hans Bolter say, try use filter on Ship list

When you look at the Anchored Ship screen, it will show you how many are in port in the right side panel partway down.

Thanks to everyone for their comments. It was a reporting issue with too many ships at PH. I pulled a couple of hundred out and moved them to Lahaina and everything is fine now. As to why so many ships at PH? I just don't need them anywhere else. I'm playing a slow, cautious game trying to minimize casualties instead of an early win. So far, so good. I've confirmed sunk 13 enemy carriers to no carriers lost for the allies.
