Frequency of overland supply movement and the amount that is moved

Post by BigDuke66 »

This is the Story:
-Lost Terapo to Japan simply by getting the "Terapo is occupied by the Japanese" message on 1st February 42.
-Took it back on the 11th with a small company but didn't find any enemy.
-Now the real strange part, there seems to have been over 70k supply at this base because after the turn had finished processing Port Moresby received around 27,5k supply and I saw that Terapo still had over 43k supply.
-And that wasn't all, PM received 16k 3 turns later and 9k 4 turns after that.
No ships involved exept some small AK/AKLs but they unloaded almost nothing and so can't be the source of this massive movement.

First some things for clarification, those "XY is occupied by the Japanese" messages do appear under what conditions? Does Japan really have to land troops there or how does this work?

Looking at the supply path value I have 38 on PM from Terapo so that something moves seem OK but the sheer amount(even those 9k look like a lot) and also speed(every 3-4 days) make the overland supply move look so "wrong" that I really wonder if it works like intended.
Especially when you consider that Japan may also have moved this much supply overland to Terapo in only some turns from the northern part of New Guinea(Salamau).

it's sometimes called the 'rowboat corps' - an LCU can 'occupy' & 'change ownership of' nearby unoccupied enemy base or beach hexes. no actual transfer of shipping or troops is req'd, it's more of a 'zone of control' operation, think of it as local security operations, it's an 'automatic' function of the game-engine.

as for the xfer of supply, that's a mystery to me. if you own a base-hex, you can increase its supply-draw w/ the arrow-buttons, & can protect its supply w/ the stockpile switch. other than that, the game-engine is gonna do whatever it is that it does.

I just wonder if these overland supply movements could be tuned down for the few maybe 5 supply "pulses" at new occupied base so that these masses from only start to be transfered after some time when the "supply routes" are established.
