Disappearing HQs

Post by BigBadWolf »

I postde this in RA thread, but it can't hurt to ask here as well.

So, game is RA 4.0. Several HQs that were present on map in the first turn, in second split into two, with one part on map and the other in reinforcements cue. Here is the example.

Other issue is with 11th Air Fleet. In game it is static, which is a major headache for Japan, since it is a 5 hexes air HQ:

But in Editor, it doesn't appear it has any static devices. Is there a remedy for this?

The 88mm guns are static. Thus the HQ is static.

For the split HQ, was it being unloaded? In combat?
The 5th Air HQ doesn't show up till 10/02/45 according to editor.

Hmm, So it seems. I confused them with 8cm/T88 AA guns, which are standard AA heavy guns in RA. Thanks, Michael.

As for the 5th, in RA it starts in Formosa. I loaded it into transports and when they arrived (warp TF) this happened. I went trhough tracker and there were also few other HQ's that suffered the same fate. One of them in Kwantung Army, just sitting there.

Nope, scratch that, 5th Aid Div, 25th Army and 14th Army. All three have been involved in the first turn landing. Neither of the ships these units were on was sunk.

Too many 5th Air ... units.[:D]
What game version are you using, and do you have the combat save of the turn that the 'split' happened.

I suspect that the parent part of the HQ was 'killed' but the fragment swap failed for some reason. The delay of 30+ would suggest this as this is the delay to return a destroyed HQ.

No. I can run without it.

I think I may have found an 'unload' hole in regard to HQ unloading from an Amphib TF. I would like the save to see if that is what happening and try to trace it thru the unload process.

It looks like the excess 'disperses' messages may also be related to this issue with fragment size not being updating correctly.

These messages are getting generated when an empty 'parent' is being removed, before it swaps with a fragment.

This is linked back to the error in the fragment size before the swap. With the fix in place, almost all of these messages have disappeared.
I hadn't noticed many of these messages earlier.
