So no one knows what sound file is the whistling bombs falling?? Man it's now like finger nails down a chalk board. I don't want to kill all the sound but I might have to.

I've changed a lot of sound files over the years. I don't know which one yours is, but you can play them outside the game one by one (Windows Media Player works) and write down the file name for the offender. There are many alternate sound files at

http://mathubert.free.fr/main_content.htm (Spooky's Site)

Many of them were by a poster named Cobra and are in the 2004 era. Some are better than others, but I've only found one out of many which can cause a crash. That one was a submarine sound file involving a klaxon which was too long and overran into the next phase execution and crashed it.

There's a neat file there which replaces the "Ding ding, ding ding" file at game load with a General Quarters bong-bong and a real WWII 1MC announcement "General Quarters! General Quarters! All hands man your battlestations!" A lot better way to get you primed for the first turn.

All I have done is rename the sound and video folder to NO Sound and No Video. I no longer get any sounds and videos

I find the sound adds a lot, and in a few cases it gives you tactical info that is not presented visually. Mine strikes for one.

the gurgling sound of a sinking submarine for another ... then if one is not paying attention .."...Main Body .." gets ones attention [8D]

The sinking sound is a good enough indicator of what you'll have verified in a few weeks on th eSunk Ships screen. I think it is wrong once in a great while, but accurate enough to use tactically.

The "main body" one is nails on a chalkboard for me. I have it in my current re-load, but I've replaced it in the past with a file from Spooky's site.

Oh, there are more .. 1134, 1120 through 1125. I just chose another file that is easier on the ear but is like an air attack and renamed it.
