Spirit of Togo ~ AE Scenario

[:)] historic start

Concept:

IJA and IJN are compelled to co-operate to win against allies.
IJN suggest a deliberate defensive battle, as was the case at Tsushima.
IJA will take SRA as quickly as possible.
Historical army and AF inventory at 12/41

Rules:

1) japanese engine expansion limited to 100 engines per month
2) no AC or engine research allowed
3) AC stats changes limited to historical engine and gun subtype

changes:

1) Air forces are combined into single command, as in the style of RAF
i) allows pilots to move freely between all AC types

2) IJN ships begin at refit in preparation for decisive battle

i) 4 CS converting to CVL
ii) 16 CA converting to CA Mogami standard (remove rear turrets)
iii) 12 CL converting to Kitikami standard
iv) CVE hosho refit

3) Naval construction changes

i) CL cruisers cancelled
ii) CA ibuki laid down as unryu
iii) 2 empty capital shipyard slots filled
iv) large submarine construction program

4) Japanese AC replaced with common names instead of manufacturer code

5) Japanese AC stats changes

i) drop tank mvr penalty removed
ii) max altitude based on supercharger stages of engine
iii) AC gun ammo included in accuracy calculation

6) Empty TO&E spots for air units

note: maximum altitude of 1-stage supercharged engines is 20,000 feet.
MVR is based on the calculation of 60 - wingloading/5
1-stage engine has 100% MVR at 0-15K feet, 50% mvr penalty at 15-20K feet.

Gun accuracy is muzzle velocity / 3000 x ammo/500 x mounting

weapon changes. 7.7mm effect reduced to 1, 20mm effect increased to 5, 12.7mm effect reduced to 5.
All ranges standardized at 500m.

*exceptions: Ho-103 uses explosive ammo, increase effect to 3 but reduce penetration to 1
Mg-151/20 uses mine shells, increase effect to 6 but reduce penetration to 2

results: 7.7mm is hits more often but is less fatal, 12.7mm is now more accurate and effective against armor of 0, but less effective against armor of 1.
20mm accuracy is much lower.
