2D Counters modable

This exciting new release is a faithful adaptation of the renowned Conflict of Heroes board game that won the Origins Historical Game of the Year, Charles Roberts Wargame of the Year and the James F. Dunnigan Design Elegance Award, as well as many others!

Designed and developed in cooperation with Uwe Eickert, the original designer of Conflict of Heroes, and Western Civlization Software, the award-winning computer wargame studio, no effort has been spared to bring the outstanding Conflict of Heroes gameplay to the computer. Conflict of Heroes includes an AI opponent as well as full multiplayer support with an integrated forum and game lobby. To remain true to the core gameplay of the board game, the PC version is designed to be fun, fast and easy to play, though hard to master. The game design is also historically accurate and teaches and rewards platoon and company-level combined arms tactics without overwhelming the player with rules.

2D Counters modable

Post by Bradley62 »

Highly anticipating this game and congrats on a superb looking title.

Are the counter skins modable? Could you add vehicle/tank art to show them with a top down view, ala ASL and Close Combat.

no they're not and vehicle/ordnance counter graphics have been criticised due to the fact they do not line up with the counter's covered arc, so they are counter-intuitive (ahem).

It's no biggie though, the richness of the graphics is a bonus and adds to the overall enjoyment of the game.

Shame. Fighting Formations by GMT was first advertised with lovely top down counters only to be released with side on profile which is even worse.

I'd have thought in the PC game they'd have altered them to be top down and a moving turret.

I had to consult the programmer on this one. He says that "They are moddable, but it is a bit tricky as the modding requires image and FBX files converted in Visual Studio to XNB format." When the time comes, if you are serious about this we'd be glad to help with the conversion.

I think ASL counters are looking abit plain these days. Now something like ATS counters or the proposed Fighting Formation baordgame counters.

Yes wodin, correct. I was thinking something more like this. Stands out with added immersion to the game.

You are right about the official counters, if we look the TPP like BFP the situation is starting to evolve.
Anyhow I would prefer a 3/4 or side view for the vehicles.

Bradley62, where this tiger counter come from?

It is from GMT Panzer Series.

I will play at 2d. Just as you would view it in Close Combat. Naturally a top down view is visually more pleasing (easier to visualize for myself) in this way and is why I inquire about this.

Bradley I was looking at that Tiger counter debating which to put up;).

CoH is a 3\4 approach by the looks of it. I'd rather it be either top down or if not side view rather than 3\4.

well, it sounds like it is moddable, albeit with some complexity involved, so perhaps modders will step in and provide. the screens I've seen so far look pretty engaging. I've never played the board game. But I did spend a lot of time playing the original AH Squad Leader series, so i'm looking forward to checking this out.
