Available on Steam?

This exciting new release is a faithful adaptation of the renowned Conflict of Heroes board game that won the Origins Historical Game of the Year, Charles Roberts Wargame of the Year and the James F. Dunnigan Design Elegance Award, as well as many others!

Designed and developed in cooperation with Uwe Eickert, the original designer of Conflict of Heroes, and Western Civlization Software, the award-winning computer wargame studio, no effort has been spared to bring the outstanding Conflict of Heroes gameplay to the computer. Conflict of Heroes includes an AI opponent as well as full multiplayer support with an integrated forum and game lobby. To remain true to the core gameplay of the board game, the PC version is designed to be fun, fast and easy to play, though hard to master. The game design is also historically accurate and teaches and rewards platoon and company-level combined arms tactics without overwhelming the player with rules.

Interesting. That's a little surprising to me actually since I'm not aware of too much, if any, overlap between games Matrix/Slitherine distribute and Steam.

" ...And yes, CoH will be available through Steam of course for digital download. Uwe ..."

Hmm if this is true, and I can't confirm that, I still wouldn't buy it via Steam. See regular games you buy you play maybe 2-3 years max. Good strategy games can last for many years. And I fear the day Steam goes belly up and we can't play our beloved games anymore. So to have a physical disk is for topnotch strategic games still a must for me.

This is not actually correct and was just a misunderstanding, it will be available on the Matrix and Slitherine online stores as usual.

I doubt Steam would take the game on to be honest. Not mainstream enough. They wouldn't even take Achtung Panzer!!

That's why I was surprised when I saw it ... and it'd be a departure for Matrix/Slitherine.

I think it would be helpful if Uwe or someone from Slitherine/Matrix corrected his comment on Consimworld. People will get mad if they have a false set of expectations.

To me it's quite a big slip up really. Surely Uwe knew it wouldn't be on Steam, or did he think it would be? He definitely needs to amend the comment. It will cause confusion and annoyance I expect.

Well maybe he never said it, or someone misinterpreted him? The fact that his name was in that particular posting doesn't say much really. Heck maybe even his account got hacked who knows.

nothing wrong with steam; I m sure they'll reach more folks through that network; Im very happy with the digital download exe's we get; a fair bit smaller than regular steam games, so easy to store on a hdd; besides Im pretty much finished with disc media for games; even if I have it on disc, I've bought a few on steam just for the convenience it provides- I think steam will be around longer than me

Considering some of the crap they let on there, I don't know why they wouldn't let Matrix or Slitherine titles on there. I imagine if any disagreement came up it would have to be about the pricing. I think Panzer Corps and Unity of Command would do very well on Steam.
