Operation Overlord - Axis victory conditions

Post by TomBombadil711 »

Hi,

when will I win the Overlord scenario as Axis? We are far into 1945, all Allied units on the European mainland are destroyed. What do I have to do as the Axis player to win?

Thanks in advance.

Declare yourself the winner. Probably the scenario designer never considered the possibility that the Axis player could win.

I agree that's how just about all ToF games will end. Usually you cannot or are unwilling to play long enough after the issue is decided to get a result. For example as Axis you can KO USSR but never Allies as Commonwealth is invulnerable to attack (as it should be) It is however is pretty easy to take out the USA (REALLY? yes really) Those beaches should all be turned off. The NYPD would arrest anything the Germans could deliver across the Atlantic. Alas in ToF the USN cannot stop even unsupported invasion transports.

The Axis is pretty easy to force a result against (but game still will not end). I tried a GC with Hard (Allies) vrs Very Easy (Axis) & FoW at three hexes to see if the AI could give any kind of fight against a human 'playing to win' (sadly the answer is no). Germany and Italy had surrendered by Dec 1941 but game continued however as Allies and USSR could have had a 'fight'.

Bottom line is for all practical purposes this game simply isn't going to get played to completion (where the game 'calls' a victory)
