One of my fleets moved offmap and is not comming back!

Post by Zharradan »

I was advised to post this thread in this section of the forums.

I am currently playing one of the smaller scenarios PBEM and one of my fleets moved off map while retreating from an enemy fleet. Eventhough I can access the fleet from the active taskforce list and order it to move back into the map, it is not doing so I have tried to order it to move back to homeport or even activated computer controle, but it is simply not moving. The fleet has not been moving for 6 turns.

Does anyone have any suggestion as to how to get the fleet back on map?
Any help would be appriciatet. (the fleet is my mainbody of combatships )

I'm no expert but they might need more info.  What is the fuel situation on your ships?  Is the replenish at sea order available?  If any are out of fuel, others with fuel will tow them but very slowly.  How many days til arrival is shown?  If the change destination order is available, have you tried sending them to the nearest off-map base? In your case either Cape Town or Aden.  If they will go there I would suggest disbanding them when they get there and then form new TFs and give them an on-map destination and change their home port to an on-map location.

A current save will be neeeded to see what the problem is.
Plus I wouldn't expect a TF to move off-map when retreating from the enemy as there are several values that get set when you direct a TF off-map.
A naval battle (assuming that why it retreated) right on the edge of the map sounds like bad co-incidence.

If this is the case, a save at the time of the TF retreat is also required.

You can attack the saves to posts in this subforum. This one allows larger file attachments than the others.

Alright. I have attached the files I send to my opponent (previous), the file he sent back (opponent), and the files I sent back to him (after). It happend during combat phase generatet by the two first files and the fil I recieved back from him. I play the japs, and it is TF26 that moves off map.

Thanks for having a look.

I was looking at Allied side.[:o]
Thanks. I will look at that.

Yes. It has moved off the map area - the half hexes don't count as part of the map.
The fault is the 'retreat from threat' - it works where to go but only has the full map area check in place.

I might be able to entice it back on to the playing area.

Can you attach a current save (by itself) so I can try that?

Yes. The two files attached here are the current save and combat report. The save is the one I've saved myself. If you need my opponents save aswell, let me know.

I need you to do an in-turn save for me so I can fix it. I will return to you and you can then end the turn normally.

Never mind I updated the Allied turn.
The TF should now be accessible.
