And now for something completely different.

Traditional English Folk with Fairport Convention. With the voice of an angel is Sandy Denny... sadly no longer with us...

I discovered "Florence + The Machine" by watching the new "Game of Thrones" trailer. I bought their "Celebration" and I can stop listen to it. "Seven Devils", "What the Water Gave Me", "Lover to Lover" and "Bedroom Hymns" are fantastic. Actually I happened to listen to "What the Water Gave Me" while playing "Steam and Iron" by NWS, and the track is now my official soundtrack of the game.

My daughter turned me on to this song recently. I like a lot.

Good ole Billy Thorpe. I swear them Aussies are some tough S.O.B's. Even their musicians could kick my arse.

I'll keep with the classics here.
A couple longer jams;

I think the golden age of Disco is sorely under-represented on this thread. Here are two classics of the genre:

Ain't No Stopping Us Now - McFadden + Whitehead

Lover Rollercoaster - The Ohio Players

There's a reason for that.

Disco absolutely sucks.

Mmmmm, not entirely sure, but I'm sensing a certain antipathy toward the genre coming from the general Ohio area?

Your senses are spot on.

To me disco is like a lot of early 90's music, just trash.

Maybe it has to happen every 15-20 yrs.

Agree on the early 90's stuff - with few exceptions, the whole "Madchester" scene left me behind (I was still living in the early 80's [;)] when music was music) and what was grunge all about?

Really, some of the Manchester/Brithish stuff wasn't too awful.

But like you, the 80's formed my tastes for me.

Even in the late 80's I saw decline, IMO.
